The Korean music industry is too often reduced to what people know as KPOP. However, it is a world that, though not exposed to the media, does exist, and is wider than what you could imagine.
Sometimes, you randomly walk past a band on your way back home. But that band is quite particular…because the singer’s voice has this amazing power to make you stop everything that you have been doing and attract you.
That’s how I discovered GIFT.
This 4-member band, performs in the streets of Sinchon and in Hongdae’s live clubs.
Their musical adventure started in early 2016, when the guitarist (and current leader) Kim Seungtae and his friend Lee Juhyuk performed in the streets. Then they met the drummer Jung Hwigyeom and the bassist Kim Hyungwoo through live sessions and created the band we now know.
When it comes to their musical world, they both do British band song covers and sing original songs.
For those who are curious about them, let me suggest you some songs that will for sure make you fall for them. The first one is a cover of the Japanese animation movie’s OST ‘Your name‘, and the second one is a live performance of their original song ‘Stay the same‘ that let them win the Yamaha Asia beat contest.
