On this date of April 3rd, a commemoration took place on the island of JEJU.

This riot, which was sparked in 1948 by brutal repression against residents accused of being Communist sympathizers by the then Rhee Syng-man government, ended six years later with this horrific and deadly figure which represented 10% of the population of Jeju.
This ceremony took place on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of this bloodshed, one of the consequences of the ideological division of Korea after its liberation from Japanese colonization.

The current president MOON JAE IN said today “The revision of the special law on the incident of April 3rd, supposed to serve as the basis for a complete resolution, is still pending in the National Assembly“.
Because indeed a large number of points are not resolved, and the South Korean president wants the ministers to delve more quickly than that.
