JAMIE

Inspired by a true story, this musical is based on a report filmed in 2011 by the BBC television channel. The story centers around a young man of sixteen called Jamie New, who lives in the Sheffield region of the United States, a place where he does not find place for his homosexuality. Frightened by the future, he actually hides his dream from everyone’s eyes; the dream of becoming Drag Queen. One day, breaking all the codes, he decides to take his courage in both hands and to go to the prom in dress, a real challenge for him to help him overcome the incessant bullying of his high school comrades. Supported by his mother and his most loyal friends, he will embrace his passion for fashion and wake up in the spotlight.
“EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE” is already causing a sensation in his country of origin, the United States. Indeed, the original musical has already been nominated for five Olivier Awards and has received three Whatsonstage Awards, not to mention the many positive reviews received by newspapers such as The Times, The Independent and Daily Mail.

With twenty-five songs in the repertoire by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom Macrae, the musical lasts 2 hours 40 minutes and is headlined in Korea by personalities well known to the Korean public: JO KWON (2AM), MJ ( ASTRO), REN (NU’EST) and SHIN JUHYEOP.
JO KWON goes on stage for the fifth time and is not his first try because in 2014, he had starred in the comedy “PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT” which depicts the story of two drag queens and a transgender woman. He also lent his voice to the comedies “JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR” in 2013, “CHESS” in 2015 and “ON A STARRY NIGHT” in 2016 before having to perform his military service. “EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE” marks his return to the scene after fulfilling his obligations.

As for MJ and REN, it will be for them their debuts in this universe, risky but daring beginnings which will undoubtedly have to underline their courage, the LGBT + community not always being well received by Korean citizens, even less with the recent upsurge in Covid-19 cases linked to gay clubs in the Itaewon district of Seoul. The other actors surrounding the three idols are CHOI JUNGWON, KIM SUNYOUNG, YOON HEESUK and CHOI HOJOONG.
Scheduled from July 4 to September 11, the performances will be held at the LG Arts Center in Seoul, places are already available for sale on the Interpark (here: http://www.globalinterpark.com/detail/edetail?prdNo=20003711&dispNo=01011) and Melon (here: https://tkglobal.melon.com/performance/index.htm?langCd=EN&prodId=205184) sites, accessible to foreigners.
