The leader of Cube Entertainment’s BTOB group, SEO EUNKWANG, makes his solo debut today with his first mini album “FoRest: Entrance”.
It is during a live live on You Tube that the singer EUNKWANG made his debut after having completed his military service. It is in a simple setting, seated with the presenter, that he presents his first mini album. First of all, he would like to say that since his beginnings within BTOB, there are now many groups which have made their debuts, in particular Pentagon under the same agency as him. He was able to stay up to date during his military service because every day he watched television and was among other fans of the show “대탈출” (Big escape) and appealed to the producers so that he contacted him and joined the show.
Since his return to normal life, he confides that he was very busy with the preparation of his first album but also with sport, which he practices every day. So every day he went to the agency to work, and when he got home, he got into sport and reveals that he proudly has visible abdominals and asks you to be impatient to discover them when the the time will come.
“This album has above all a concept of self-healing, hence the title FoRest which announces this atmosphere” – EUNKWANG
Thereafter is broadcast a video presenting the songs of the album:
“서랍” : It is a romantic track where he expresses the feelings buried in his heart.
“아무도 모른다” : Song title of the album, the young man chose it for his atmosphere and his words which he particularly likes. He heard it for the first time when he was still in the army.
“Have a nice day” : This title best represents the healing concept wanted by the singer, because although the melody may seem sad, it has nothing because it is a positive title. EUNKWANG wrote it thinking of his friends. He hopes that this title will make people who listen to it feel better when they are having a hard time.
“세상에 영원한 게 없다 해도 (Walk)” : To emphasize the range of his voice, the song is mainly accompanied by the piano. For the singer, it’s a song to say that even if there is nothing left on Earth, there will always be someone by your side to walk with you.
“사계” : The concept adopted for this track is “mid-season”, namely spring and autumn, suitable for going on vacation or traveling.
“Love again” : This title was composed for the army, having the will to immerse themselves in the things that EUNKWANG liked to do before leaving for the army for almost two years, such as concerts with his group or even fanmeetings. HYUNGSIK from BTOB accompanies him on vocals.
“파랑새” : Contraction between the term “blue” and “love”, this track depicts the sadness that can be felt when we have run out of time to concretize the feelings that we feel for someone.
PENIEL, another member of the group, came to support him behind the scenes for this first showcase, although not standing directly in front of an audience. Once the presentation of the tracks is finished, the clip of “아무도 모른다” is broadcast before the singer comes back to it briefly and sings his title for the first time. The clip is sober, simple, and allows us to focus on the voice of the young man who wants to be soft but powerful.

For him, the difficulty during the shooting of the clip was the fact that he could not rest between takes. Usually, he had to wait for each member of BTOB to filmed before he too, but as a solo singer, he had to be in front of the camera all the time, without having a little time to himself. He reveals that he was anxious about the style he had to approach for this first album and the musical imprint he had to develop at first. For him, the color that best represents his beginnings is green, recalling the forest and its concept of healing. He hopes that the people who listen to his album will receive strength.
EUNKWANG was also inspired by the concerns that the other soldiers in his camp had, with whom he got along well. His military life thus had a great impact in the production of this first mini album. He also went back into his twenties to get some inspiration. His experience as a leader of BTOB allowed him above all to persevere more and more in the production of this album.
