Almost 19 months after the “YG TREASURE BOX” survival finale, YG Entertainment‘s new boy group, TREASURE, will finally debut on August 7th and promises to be groundbreaking.
We weren’t expecting them anymore, but here it is: the debut of the new boy group from YG Entertainment, one of the agencies that has marked, since its creation in 1996, the cultural industry in South Korea, will finally begin. TREASURE is the successor to the major groups in the agency which, whether they are still active or not, have undeniably marked K-POP, such as BIG BANG, 2NE1, iKON, WINNER or BLACKPINK to name a few.
Composed of twelve members, this group of boys has been eagerly awaited by its fans, the Treasure Makers (or “Teumes” in its abbreviated form), since January 2019, when their survival YG TREASURE BOX ended. But the numerous scandals that plagued the agency over the past year have repeatedly postponed their debut, originally scheduled for May 2019.
The long wait has finally paid off: the Treasure Makers will have the pleasure of seeing the group debut this month. The MV of their first single “BOY” is scheduled for release on August 7th at 6pm. The count is launched on the TREASURE networks with the photo teasers below.
The animated poster below was also published on TREASURE networks to give it color. We find the innovative and futuristic concept already present in the concept teaser released on July 20th, but this time we also find it in the music whose style changes radically from that of their pre-debut song “Going crazy“, softer and brighter. These debuts therefore promise to be powerful and ambitious.

In a statement, YG Entertainment said that

The single album, “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE“, will be released in physical form on August 13th. However, it has already exceeded the milestone of 100,000 copies sold on the Ktown4U site. This figure, beyond confirming that TREASURE is eagerly awaited by fans, already makes them one of the important groups of 2020. Indeed, while the pre-orders are not yet complete, TREASURE is already the group of rookies (among the groups that have started or will debut in 2020) who sold the most copies of their first album.
According to its tracklist, this first single album includes two songs: “BOY” and “Come to me“. We find in the credits of the essential producers of YG Entertainment (CHOICE37, HAE, Se.A and R.Tee) but also the members of the rap line: the first, the leader HYUNSUK (the group is indeed led by two leaders, the second being JIHOON) and the two Japanese rappers YOSHI and HARUTO.
We can expect to see the group become more and more involved in the production of their albums afterwards, especially as several members have already expressed an interest in composing and writing. In addition to the trio already mentioned, there are vocalists YEDAM and JUNKYU and the Japanese ASAHI among others.
On August 7th from 4pm, the boys will be on their VLive channel to wait with their fans for the release of “BOY“. Will you be there?
