The big day has arrived for TREASURE. While waiting for the release of the MV of “BOY“, a video teaser has been released and things are going to be sporty.
On August 6th, the video teaser for the MV for “BOY“, TREASURE‘s debut song, was posted on the group’s social media.
The first thing that we can note is that YG Entertainment has not been thrifty in terms of the means to put forward its new boy group. Original and very elaborate decorations which play on perspectives and which divert generic places (washing station, football or basketball field for example) to offer an innovative version. TREASURE promises to be a young and innovative group for the industry, able to represent the full potential of the new generation of idols, whether in terms of music, performances and concepts. Also, there is no shortage of special effects, light effects and flashy outfits. Everything seems to be there to impress us and the instrumental version of “BOY” adds real dynamism to all of this.
At first, the MV seems to revolve around the concept of sport. The members of the group are indeed surrounded by sets or accessories reminiscent of certain places or activities linked to them. DOYOUNG and YEDAM are on a soccer field, HYUNSUK poses in front of a basketball hoop, JUNGHWAN moves on a climbing wall and JAEHYUK uses his hammer to challenge a machine usually offered in arcades to measure his strength.
But in what appears to be a second sequence, the sets are different and some are more out of the ordinary. They are more sought after and want to be futuristic. MASHIHO stands for example in front of a tagged car, framed by the rollers of a car wash, a setting that is still little used by the industry. JIHOON on his side uses his hands like pistols to destroy statues with paint strokes. Then in the center of a landscape of skyscrapers, ASAHI from the top of a scaffolding writes the words “Find your treasure” in the air, etc. What can all of this mean? The answer will surely be given today at 6 pm with the release of the MV in its full version.
At the end of the teaser, after appearing individually, the members are finally reunited in the same setting. Together, they run towards the center of the arena which originally served as a soccer field, but its appearance has changed. Initially cold and dimly lit, dominated by black and white, it is now illuminated by the golden light of the projectors suspended in its center. Underneath stands a huge diamond. Is this the treasure that TREASURE members need to find? What does it symbolize? The scene they’ve dreamed of so much since the end of their survival? Their community of fans, the Treasure Makers (or Teumes)? Something else? Many theories will no doubt emerge to answer this question.
TREASURE is the new group of boys produced by YG Entertainment at the end of the survival “YG TREASURE BOX” which ended in January 2019. Since then, the Teumes have been waiting firmly for their debut. Following the release of the MV for “BOY” today, the next step is the release of the physical version of their debut single album “THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE” scheduled for August 13th. It includes two songs, “BOY” and “Come to me”, as well as their respective instrumental versions.
