GOT7

Following discussions with their agency about their future after the end of their contract in January 2021, members of the South Korean kpop group GOT7 have chosen not to renew their contracts.
All members of GOT7 will therefore officially leave JYP Entertainment at the end of their exculsive contract. After seven years with the agency, the members of GOT7 decided to pursue new projects for the future and to take different ways.
Having debuted in 2014, the number of seven GOT7 have fulfilled many dreams and captured the hearts of their iGOT7 fans. With two sub-units made up of two members of the group, JJ Project created in 2012 and composed of the leader JB and JINYOUNG known under the pseudonym JUNIOR at the time of its beginnings and Jus2 composed of JB and YUGYEOM having started in 2019. The group wrote and interpreted many songs and performed many iconic choreographies.
A group that has asserted itself on the South Korean and international scene over the years and has confirmed its place in the world of K-pop.
When their contracts were announced, JB, MARK, YOUNGJAE, JINYOUNG, JACKSON, BAMBAM and YUGYEOM all decided not to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment and pursue their careers separately.
The group’s last official activity will be the 2021 Golden Disc Awards Ceremony.
The members of GOT7 being very close and united and the members with different projects, their opinions were divided when their contract with the agency was renewed. They came to a common decision to choose a different path in order to focus on their plans for the future.
“GOT7 has a close relationship. We collected opinions that the members were together. But opinions were divided in the agency’s decision. After several meetings with the company, we decided to go our separate ways.”
Each member received new opportunities and decided to think about them.
JINYOUNG, who was contacted by BH Entertainment, is said to be in discussions about an exclusive contract in order to focus on his flourishing and promising acting career.
YUGYEOM is also said to be in talks with rapper Jay Park’s hip-hop and R&B agency, AOMG Entertainment, the youngest member of GOT7 known to be an outstanding dancer would have the opportunity to focus on dance.
YOUNGJAE was contacted by the Sublime Artist Agency known to work with artists like Rain or Hani, member of the EXID group. An opportunity for YOUNGJAE to be able to continue in song but also to develop his acting career.
The leader of the group JB, member of the DEF collective, has also received numerous proposals from international agencies and labels which would allow him to continue his solo career as a singer.
The international members have decided to continue their careers alternating between South Korea and their country of origin.
JACKSON would deepen his solo career in China, his role as a muse and TV host and would focus on new projects with his label Team Wang and on his Team Wang Design collection.
BAMBAM, well known in his country of origin, Thailand, would alternate and develop his career as well as new projects and would be in discussion with the Makeus Entertainment agency in order to manage his projects in Korea.
MARK originally from the United States would have chosen to take a break in order to reunite with his family before continuing and undertaking new things in his country of origin.
JYP Entertainment has officially released a statement regarding the end of GOT7 and the departure of all members. Members will officially leave the agency on January 19, 2021.

GOT7 has performed exceptionally as a global idol group that represents K-pop since their debut on January 16, 2014. We genuinely thank GOT7 for being part of the growth of K-pop and JYP, as well as I GOT7 and all fans who have been a source of motivation to GOT7’s activities with their endless support since their debut. Our official relationship ends here, but JYP will sincerely cheer on the new future that the GOT7 members will advance into.”
