LUCAS (黃旭熙): The strong voice of WAYV

Real name Wong Yuk Hei, LUCAS is originally from Hong Kong, and was born to a Chinese father and a Thai mother. He joined the agency SM ENTERTAINMENT to start as SM ROOKIES in 2015, after having auditioned in Hong Kong (SM Auditions), and then joined the project of this same agency, that of NCT (Neo Culture Technology). Before officially debuting in the group, we could see him in some MV, including TEN‘s “Dream in a dream“, which is a song straight out of the SM STATION project, in April 2017.

LUCAS appeared in TEN’s MV, when he was still only SM ROOKIES.

He will officially debut in 2018 with NCT U, via the NCT 2018 project, with the title song “Boss“. He positions himself as a rapper within the group, and hardly disappoints with his strong, powerful voice, which can be soft on some other songs.

Fans nickname him Yukhei, and his nicknames can also vary with XuXi, Lucas Bieber, as indeed, he amused his fans by imitating Justin Bieber in facial expressions. TEN also likes to nickname him “Giant Baby“, because LUCAS is quite tall, with a baby’s face. LUCAS is someone who is often cheerful and playful, and it is not uncommon to see him “laughing” in front of the cameras. He has a positive personality and fans quickly get attached to him.

For example, we can see, along with other members of WAYV, during a live, don’t hesitate to entertain everyone and want to make the fans laugh while watching the live.

LUCAS subsequently integrated the groups WAYV and SUPERM. WAYV having debuted in January 2019, and SUPERM in October 2019 with the powerful title “Jopping”. In these two groups, LUCAS keeps his position as rapper, however, as said before, in some songs such as “Love talk” (WAYV), we can very well hear that he has a powerful voice, soothing and warm.

LUCAS has a tattoo of which he is very proud. However, the latter was “officially” unveiled some time later in the WAYV MV, for his comeback with the album “AWAKEN THE WORLD”, with the MV “Turn back time”, in which we see his tattoo.

To end on his personality, LUCAS is never afraid to say that he admires himself and even, that he happens to be the most beautiful in the group NCT, he is his own role model.

He was in 2020 in the NCT 2020 project, being highlighted in the first part of the album “RESONANCE” especially with the title song “Make a wish“, however, he is much less present in part two of this same album released a little later, and fans debated it a lot on the different networks.
