ASTRO - JINJIN
On March 15, we are celebrating JINJIN‘s birthday, whose real name is Park Jinwoo. He is known to be a singer, rapper, actor, composer, lyricist and the leader of boy group ASTRO.
JINJIN is usually described as a quiet, slow person who is a caring leader. He knows how to play drums, he is a good hip-hop dancer and he often attracted people’s attention thanks to his incredible hair colors and his tattoos which were revealed druring one of ASTRO‘s big concerts.
JINJIN participate in hip-hop dance battles during his high school days before becoming a trainee from Fantagio. He then belonged to ITEEN project centered on the trainees from the company. In late 2014, he participated in the “Rising Star Project” alongside the other trainees. They all had to prepare performances to do on Lotte World’ stage in order to find the best trainees to create the company’s new boy group. JINJIN was able to show his skills as a rapper and dancer during these performances.
At this time, he also appeared in many videos that were showing the trainees’ daily life and projects to promote them before their debuts. JINJIN was soon announced as a member of the company’s new group and became a member of ASTRO. He participated in the “Meet U Project” in late 2015 with his co-members in order to meet their fans and then acted in their pre debuts mini web-drama “To be continued”. He maily focused on showing his rapping skills as we can see in the clip under where he challenges ROCKY‘s character in a rap battle.
On February 23, 2016, JINJIN debuted as ASTRO‘s leader and main rapper with cute title-song “Hide and Seek” and made many comebacks with the group over the years. He also participated in his group’ songs by composing many tracks and writing lyrics.
Between 2016 and 2020, he also participated in TV shows such as entertainment or rap shows. In May 2016, he appeared in the fifth season of “Show me the money” and in 2018, he released a song featuring artists MyunDo and SUPERBEE. With “Like a King”, JINJIN showed that he was able to release contents as a solo artist who can rap but also sing.
Beside his activities as a member of ASTRO, JINJIN had several solo activities but he could not speak much about himself as a person. In late 2020, he was the guest of “K-POP DAEBAK”‘s episode 81 which is hosted by Eric Nam. During almost one hour, ASTRO‘s leader could speak about himself, his dreams, his life, his co-members that he considers as family members, in a cozy and conforting mood.
