SEVENUS
One of the best “discoveries” of the year.

This is the story of SEVENUS (formerly known as Masc, Heejae and Ireah), who placed second in JTBC’s survival program “Peak Time“.
HEEJAE and IREAH challenged “Peak time” under the name “MASC” and finished second in the finals by showing more than 200% of their skills in each performance.
Unfortunately, the duo didn’t win the competition, but the SEVENUS drew a lot of attention to them. From “Hello”, “My sea“, “Doesn’t matter” and “Wave”, SEVENUS has always been one of the best scenes in “Peak Time”. Among them, the “Hello” step left a strong impression on many people as it was hailed as the “best intro of the year“.
When HEEJAE and IREAH sang “Hello”, they recall, “We were very nervous because it was our first stage, and we only focused on the stage to show a good performance”, adding, “We were perplexed when we received the ‘All pick’.”

HEEJAE and IREAH, who have started the second act of their activities in earnest, have made a fresh start with a new group name “SEVENUS”. SEVENUS is a combination of the precious number “7” and “we” of HEEJAE and IREAH, which means being with the fans, playing with the 07:00 team in “Peak Time“. As the name of the group was decided by fan votes, it is more meaningful for HEEJAE and IREAH and the fans.
“It’s a very satisfying group name. Since it’s a group name we created with the fans, I hope the fans will think that we’re starting together.” – IREAH
“Team 07:00 was very popular. As we were able to use the lucky number “7” as our group name, I hope a lot of luck will unfold before us in the future. Ha ha!” – HEEJAE
SEVENUS said they have been having happy days since its second place finish on “Peak Time.” If the two members had been worried about continuing their singing careers, they confessed that they are now full of happy thoughts about the kind of music they will release for the love they received from fans and audiences.
“To be honest, I didn’t know I would be a finalist. I think I got a lot of love. I want to meet a lot of people with better music in the future.” – HEEJAE
“At first I was worried because I thought, ‘Can we be recognized for our skills?’ So I entered the competition with the determination to leave a good performance and a good impression, but I’m so happy and grateful to receive a lot of attention and love that I did not expect. Thanks to you, I can continue my activities. I want to play a lot of good music with SEVENUS.” – IREAH

The two members said they received a lot of encouragement from those around them since the end of “Peak Time“. There are a variety of reactions, ranging from “Why didn’t you win?” to “I look forward to the future.“
“Honestly, when I decided to participate, I didn’t even think about being a finalist. There were so many talented people. But when we got second place, people around us were even more disappointed, nobody also said that we might have finished second because of the small number of members. I am also grateful for this answer and I appreciate it. – HEEJAE
“I think my family and friends around me like this achievement more because I experienced a failure once. In fact, I was wondering if I should stop singing and find a stable job after serving in the army. My mom and dad said, ‘Do it for another year,’ and this year has completely changed my life. I’m so grateful.” – IREAH

HEEJAE and IREAH confessed that every day is fun thanks to the increased number of fans. The duo also said that there are so many things they are experiencing for the first time that they are enjoying every moment and looking forward to tomorrow.
“When I was active in the past, I had never received a food truck or lunch boxes, but it was very fascinating to receive them after appearing on ‘Peak Time‘. Everything is amazing and enjoyable, from LED signs with our names by fans from faraway countries. I want to say thank you to all the fans. Whenever I see such things, I only think that I will refund my fans.” – HEEJAE
“The best thing about being a singer is a concert. I’ve never done that before. I was so happy and proud to be on stage at the ‘Peak Time‘ concert. I really enjoyed the how the fans looked at us warmly when we were on stage. As much as you made us happy, we want to make our fans happy in the future.” – IREAH
HEEJAE and IREAH who now form the duo SEVENUS signed with PCS Entertainment agency (Dignity group’s agency) and are currently working on a new album. The two boys told us about their future.
“Big goals are fine, but we want to be singers who keep making music with our fans for a long time.” – SEVENUS
“If we used to aim for digital achievements such as No. 1 in music broadcasts, concert sales and No. 1 in music charts, we just want to continue our music now,” said HEEJAE.
“If there is someone who will continue to present our music and listen to it, there will be no greater honor.” IREAH
“I said I had to have clear numbered goals when I was active in the past, but I think I’ve changed a bit these days. I want to be a ‘long-term’ singer who plays music for a long time as HEEJAE said.” – IREAH
The duo chose “Highlight” as their model. HEEJAE said:
“HIGHLIGHT is also a long-time representative group in the music industry, and they have a wide spectrum to play various genres, from vocal songs to dance songs. Above all, each has a different personality and makes remarkable achievements. in solo activities. I want to learn that for SEVENUS.” – HEEJAE
“IU has a very broad musical spectrum. She is not limited to one genre, but she continues to expand her own musical spectrum in each album. SEVENUS is also a vocal group in essence, but there are many genres that I want to do and a lot of music I want to play for people. I want to play a variety of music like IU” – IREAH
Finally, HEEJAE expressed his ambition to become a stage-filling singer. HEEJAE said:
“We are two members, but we will become singers who can represent a hundred. I want to be a singer who can fill any big stage, and we will become a male duo in the music industry who always show good alchemy and good harmony.”
“At some point, male duets became a hard thing to find in the music industry, and I want to continue SEVENUS. I will become a singer that fans and audiences will remember with great music and performances so you can think of SEVENUS when I think of a male duo.” – IREAH
SEVENUS will attend Busan’s performance of the “Peak Time” Top 6 “Your Time” concerts at KBS Busan Hall from the 24th to the 25th of next month.
