LEE AREUM, former member of T-ARA, was hospitalized after a suicide attempt on Wednesday, according to local media.
LEE AREUM left what was believed to be a suicide note before her dawn attempt and was taken to hospital for treatment, Osen media reported Wednesday morning. She had not regained consciousness at the time of the report.
LEE AREUM is divorcing her husband, a non-celebrity two years her senior whom she married in 2019. The couple have two sons. LEE AREUM announced her divorce last December.
LEE AREUM has since publicly accused her ex-husband of domestic violence against her and their children.
She uploaded a photo to Instagram on Monday showing her bruised face and a torn dress.
“In November 2021, [my husband], in a fit of rage, tore my clothes and strangled me, saying he would kill me in front of our child,”
she wrote. “He hit me hard enough to cause bruising near my nose and punched me in the feet to the point that I couldn’t walk for a while.”
“The photo was taken after I ran away to my parents the day I was beaten in front of my child. My dress was torn, my nose was crooked and I was bruised.”
She claimed she did not receive an official diagnosis from the hospital because her husband asked for forgiveness.
Earlier this month, LEE AREUM accused her husband of gambling and taking loans, as well as abusing their children.
“[My husband] expressed his anger by spitting on the children’s mouths and even urinating on their faces; he even defecated on my eldest’s face,” she said in an interview with Osen reported on March 3.
“He abused me throughout our married life in addition to committing many shocking and ugly acts,” she added.
LEE AREUM joined girl group T-ARA in 2012 but left the group the following year. She appeared, alongside her husband, on a reality television show that featured the lives of married couples contemplating divorce. She said on the show that she suffered from depression due to her disagreements with her husband.
