YUQI from the group (G)I-DLE takes her first steps as a solo artist.

Cube Entertainment‘s YUQI will officially debut as a solo artist with the release of first mini album “YUQ1” at 6 p.m. KST today. It’s been six years since she debuted as a member of the group (G)I-DLE. Here are three highlights from his first solo mini-album “YUQ1”.

As you can tell from the album name, “YUQ1” is an album that contains “YUQI” itself. She notably expressed her great confidence in her first album by identifying the letter of the alphabet “I” as the number “1” within her name.
With this in mind, she participated in the writing and composition of five out of seven titles, including the title song “Freak”, “My way“, “Drink it up (Feat. pH-1)”, “On clap (Feat. Lexie Liu)” and “Everytime (With MINNIE ((G)I-DLE)”, reinforcing the authenticity and completeness of her debut solo album. Listeners’ expectations are even higher because YUQI, who been recognized for her comprehensive production ability by participating in the lyrics and composition of (G)I-DLE songs such as “i’M THE TREND” and “All night“.

YUQI is a rare singer with a rich voice, wide range and unlimited genre assimilation. Through the new multi-genre album “YUQ1”, she is expected to display seven colors per person, clearly imprinting her presence as a solo artist and singer in each track.
In particular, the title track “Freak” will bring a powerful voice to Bossa’s attractive rhythm and the group’s sound, recognizing the differences from others, and instead giving a new feeling of liberation with a confident message with which she will display her own personality.

“YUQ1” is an album that shines with the support of prominent Korean and foreign musicians. Rapper pH-1 wrote, composed and sang in the track “Drink it up (Feat. pH-1)” to increase the diversity of the song. “On clap” was completed by singer Lexie Liu with lyrics and technique. MINNIE also contributed by being featured in the track “Everytime”.
YUQI’s debut solo album “YUQ1” will be released today at 6 p.m. KST on various online music sites, and offline albums will be available from April 24.
