Group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) will debut as a youth goodwill ambassador UNESCO.

SEVENTEEN members will attend a Youth Goodwill Ambassador nomination ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris this June 26 at 10:30 a.m. (local time, 5:30 p.m. in Korea). At the meeting, members will receive a letter of nomination from Audrey Azoulay, Secretary General of UNESCO Headquarters, and deliver a 10-minute acceptance speech. SEVENTEEN and Audrey Azoulay will also have brief conversations before the nomination ceremony.
UNESCO appoints world-renowned people in various fields of society as goodwill ambassadors. The aim is to increase the interest and participation of people around the world in the ideology and activities of UNESCO. SEVENTEEN will become the first K-pop artist to become an official UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. This is also the first time that UNESCO has appointed youth goodwill ambassadors.
American music media Billboard reported: “SEVENTEEN has added a new honor to its long list of achievements“, and British music magazine CLASH quoted general secretary Audre Azulay as saying: “SEVENTEEN has brought inspiration and support to young people around the world through music and positive energy.“
Le Figaro, a major French daily, presented SEVENTEEN as “one of the most popular groups in the world“, highlighting their nomination ceremony as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth. Another local weekly, Paris Match, said: “SEVENTEEN formed a consensus with the CARATs through music. They established themselves as world-class superstars through their authenticity and talent.”
