ATEEZ - SAN
Fans of boy band ATEEZ, have accused fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana of racism, after photos of the singer, SAN, at last week’s fashion show went viral over the weekend.

During the fashion brand’s “Alta Moda 2024” show, SAN was seen sitting on the edge of his “cushionless” seat, unlike other people around him. Netizens speculated that the absence of the cushion was a display of racism, accusing the brand of neglecting SAN’s comfort.
SAN’s outfit at the time, which was bare and uncomfortable compared to the costume-like clothing worn by the other participants, was also a cause for concern, according to netizens.
The ATEEZ member explained that it was just a “misunderstanding.”
“It is sad to see misunderstandings occur. It was a great experience for me. .. nothing like that (talking about racism) during the show.” – SAN
SAN said: “The cushion was made by me. The people around me – including me – were tall and the seat was not wide enough. Sometimes they also had to sit on the edge .”
“It was my favorite among the 10 outfits prepared by the brand. I wanted to be recognized in the fashion world through this daring outfit.” SAN said of her choice of outfit during the parade.
Dolce & Gabbana was previously accused of racism against Asians when it released an ad depicting an Asian model struggling to eat pizza with chopsticks in 2018.
Other overseas events have also been accused of racism due to the treatment of Asian stars, particularly in K-pop. Boy band Stray Kids were the subject of allegedly racist comments from photographers at this year’s Met Gala on May 7. Actress Lim Yoona was harassed by an allegedly racist security guard during the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 19.
