A MC, BJ, of AFREECA TV, who threatened singer and musical actor KIM JUNSU to extort money and valuables from him, has been tried in custody.
According to Korean media outlet Newsis, the Uijeongbu district prosecutors’ office announced on December 2 that it had arrested and charged a woman in her 30s, “A,” from Afreeca TV, with blackmail under the specific economic crimes weighted penalty act on November 28.
According to the prosecution, “A” is accused of threatening KIM JUNSU 101 times between September 2020 and November 2020 and taking 800 million won. “A” threatened to broadcast the conversation on social media after recording conversations with KIM JUNSU.
The prosecution said, “We will carry out the prosecution in the future so that the defendant can be punished accordingly for the crime.”
According to the complaint filed by KIM JUNSU, he met “A” in the past thinking she was a manicurist and was extorted of money and property for five years.
Previously, the Gyeonggi Bukbuk Police Agency requested an arrest warrant for “A” for blackmail under the Weighted Sentencing Act for Specific Economic Crimes. Currently, “A” is reportedly being tried in a drug-related case at the Seoul Central District Court.
KIM JUNSU‘s agency, Palm Tree Island, stated, ““A” threatened to record his conversation with KIM JUNSU for illegal purposes and then broadcast it on social media. We know that KIM JUNSU is not at fault, but celebrities will not be able to recover their image because it is tarnished even if an article that is not true is published, and KIM JUNSU is unable to appear on shows. However, he continued to defend himself by saying that he has nothing to lose.“

After confirming that there are many victims not only of him but also of others from “A’s” blackmail and intimidation, KIM JUNSU has decided to take legal action to prevent further damage.
