VANNER - TAEHWAN
Although he tickles his ears with his soft voice, he exudes an authentic voice in the high range, giving him a heartbreaking cider voice. This is why TAEHWAN from the group VANNER is constantly loved by listeners.
Recently, VANNER (Taehwan, Gon, Hyesung, Seongguk, Yeonggwang) TAEHWAN ascended to the throne with an overwhelming score of 48.07% in a vote to select the “Idol’s Representative Voice Gangster” jointly conducted by iMBC Entertainment and the idol fandom crowdsourced mobile app “IDOL CHAMP.”
In response, iMBC Entertainment met with TAEHWAN in person to gather how he felt about winning the title. “I felt good to be nominated with top artists. I’m so happy to be ranked No. 1 on top of that. It’s all thanks to VVS,” he said, paying tribute to the fans.
The world of idols is heartless. They compete in a bloody competition with their own weapons. As times and markets change, the levels of difficulty increase further, and the results are clearly revealed by the numbers. Basic skills are increasingly emphasized. Since TAEHWAN was a singer before becoming a member of an idol group, vocals are naturally considered basic knowledge. In this regard, TAEHWAN’s vocals are unique and superior.
TAEHWAN was also very happy to win the title with a meaningful theme. He said, “It’s very meaningful to me and an honor. Most of all, I want to sing a lot of songs that can give good energy in the future because I feel like I’ve been recognized by my fans.”
Many listeners cite ambivalence as a vocal characteristic of TAEHWAN. He tickles the ears with his calm voice but does his part without being swayed in the parts where he needs to go harder. “My vocal strength is that I can show the multiple sides as a calm ballad singer and a powerful and cool rocker like Jekyll and Hyde,” he said.
TAEHWAN sings as if he’s directing an entire work, rather than just filling a given verse with the song. He treats the song as a drama and sings as if he’s becoming the main character. When asked to recommend a song that best exemplifies this character, TAEHWAN immediately chose “Jackpot.” He then mentioned Park Hyo Shin when asked who his role model is among ballad singers.
Finally, TAEHWAN gave a glimpse of his future plans, saying, “Now, we frequently meet our fans VVS in Korea and around the world at various fan events. We will challenge ourselves and hold various activities in the future.“

Q. Congratulations. You were chosen as the number one idol member with a natural voice. Please tell us how you feel.
I felt great just to be nominated with some great artists, but I’m happy to get first place. Thank you so much to our VVS.
Q. What if fans ask you why you threw your all into this vote?
Not only this vote, but VVS is always sincere and energetic in every vote. I think it’s because they want to brag about our banner and promote it to their neighbors.
Q. It’s not just a popularity vote. You won first place in a big category called vocal, which is an essential virtue and measure of talent for idols. How do you feel?
It’s an honor and I feel so great to receive such a meaningful award. I feel like I got recognized by the fans, so I want to sing a lot of songs that give you good energy.
Q. What do you think is the strength of Taehwan’s tone?
I think my strength is that I can show both sides like Jekyll and Hyde, which is sometimes like a calm ballader, but also like a powerful and cool rocker.
Q. Do you practice songs with different points of difference?
That’s right! I think the song is a drama and I think I’m the main character who tells the story while leading the drama. As I set my own age and personality of the main character, I think my technique changes and my tone changes.
Q. Can you recommend a song that shows Taehwan’s voice the best among Banner’s songs?
It was my most confident genre, and I would like to recommend “Jackpot”, which I put all my capabilities into.
Q. Do you have a role model among ballads?
I listen to Park Hyo-shin’s music a lot and respect him. I want to sing for a long time in a wide and healthy way like you.
Q. I think Banner is a group that won the survival game because all of its members are above the standard. Is there a voice that you’re envious of?
Thank you for appreciating it! There were many times when I envied the member Hyesung’s glass bead-like voice. As such, there were many times when I envied the personality within the group and the tone that I could instantly recognize when I listened to it.
Q. Can you tell us what you’ve been up to and what you’re planning to do with the album?
We are meeting VVS from Korea and the rest of the world often through various fan events. Although we haven’t decided on the future activities yet, we are going to challenge things that we haven’t tried yet and do various activities.
