BLACKPINK member LISA demonstrated the true value of her solo artist status at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the largest music festival in the United States, on April 11 (local time).
LISA, who has performed at Coachella twice as a member of BLACKPINK, performed more than ten songs for approximately 50 minutes. She delivered a powerful rendition of “Thunder.” She then followed intense hip-hop tracks like “FxckuUp the world,” “Elastigirl,” and “Rockstar” with sentimental songs like “When I’m with you” and “Dream,” freely alternating between intensity and moments of emptiness.
This also fit the theme of her debut album, “ALTER EGO.” During the concert, Lisa shouted, “White Lotus fans, you might have been surprised to see MOOK on stage. She’s herself, not the one she is when she’s working.” » Her remarks happily revealed the gap between the hotel employee MOOK, whom she played in the HBO drama series “White Lotus,” and LISA on stage. She also made a statement reminiscent of the album title “ALTER EGO,” which means “another ego.”
LISA brought color to Coachella with four outfit changes that day. What particularly caught your attention was a long silver costume that reminded you of a science fiction character. Its shiny texture, like metallic scales, and its decorations that rose like horns created a monstrous and unreal atmosphere. Under the intense stage lighting, LISA‘s silhouette exuded an intensity that gave the impression that she had broken the boundaries between humans and living beings.
The sheer costumes were also remarkable. On thin fabric, fluorescent ornaments intertwined organically, creating visual illusions. Additionally, they wore a delightful pink look with “Hello Kitty” characters and an extremely exposed red leather costume to convey the image of a pop diva, ranging from cute and dynamic to bold and mature looks. Each costume perfectly matched the mood of the song and served as a platform for the characters’ transformations. LISA‘s costumes for Coachella were specially designed with the help of Asher Levine, a designer who has collaborated with Lady Gaga and Doja Cat.
Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, who joined Lisa in “White Lotus,” came to cheer her on. Schwarzenegger posted a dance video on social media and congratulated her: “LISA was a sensation on stage.”
Foreign media also praised Lisa’s performance. Billboard said, “The performance was intense, creative, and cool, and we got chills,” adding, “She completely dominated the huge stage and the audience.
