MONSTA X shows unexpected chemistry with artificial intelligence

The group MONSTA X, nicknamed “믿듣퍼” (artists you can trust to listen to), recently demonstrated surprising chemistry with an artificial intelligence service.
On May 30, MONSTA X released a new episode of its reality show “MONMUKGO (몬 먹어도 고)” on its official YouTube channel. In this episode, the theme was “Creating a Fairytale with ChatGPT,” and the members used ChatGPT in a variety of creative ways.
SHOWNU, KIHYUN, and JOOHEON explained that they already use ChatGPT in their daily lives—whether it’s for writing songs or drawing—and began testing ChatGPT’s knowledge about MONSTA X. When they asked for information about SHOWNU, ChatGPT responded with an incorrect birth name, “Lee Jeong Won,” disappointing the members right from the start. Similar mistakes about I.M led to exasperated laughter.
When MINHYUK noticed ChatGPT’s somewhat cold tone, he said, “We’re filming a variety show right now, try to be a bit more fun,” prompting ChatGPT to change its tone and even use emojis, which greatly amused the members. They joked, “Look how it changes its tone as soon as it knows it’s on a show. It’s good at variety!”
During the attempt to create a nickname for KIHYUN, ChatGPT gave a ridiculous suggestion, to which KIHYUN replied, “You really don’t know me, huh? Come back after doing better research.” I.M, for his part, judged the responses with honesty and strictness, even saying, “If you keep this up, we’re switching services”—a series of funny exchanges that boosted the humor of the episode.
The members then moved on to creating a fairytale with ChatGPT. MINHYUK began with, “Once upon a time, there was a princess who lived in a beautiful palace,” and ChatGPT immediately enriched the story by adding an original character—the silver fox—which impressed the members. Wanting to have fun, the members deliberately twisted the story to turn the princess into the villain, throwing ChatGPT’s plot into confusion.

Despite the disruptions, ChatGPT managed to keep the story coherent, which the members ultimately acknowledged, wrapping up the tale on a heartwarming note. At the end of the episode, the members recorded the narration of the fairytale themselves, making it even more lively. The result was a unique and entertaining piece of content, once again confirming MONSTA X’s reputation as “content masters.”
Meanwhile, MONMUKGO airs weekly at 8:30 PM KST on MONSTA X’s official YouTube channel. The group is also holding a free pop-up exhibition titled MONologue in celebration of its 10th anniversary, open until June 11.
