Rookie girl group VVUP has been named the “Rising Star” at the Seoul Music Awards.

On June 3, the Seoul Music Awards organizing committee officially announced:
“Following the final vote for the ‘Rising Star’ category, which closed at midnight on June 1, VVUP has secured first place. As a result, the group will perform live at the 34th Seoul Music Awards, to be held on June 21 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.”
POW and TNX took second and third place, respectively.
The “Rising Star” category, newly introduced this year, is designed to give performance opportunities on a major stage to idol groups who debuted within the past three years, between January 2022 and December 2024. Out of 60 participating groups, eight advanced to the finals following preliminary and competitive rounds. Thanks to overwhelming fan support, VVUP emerged as the ultimate winner.
VVUP is a multinational group made up of SUYEON and JIYOON (South Korea), KIM (Indonesia), and PAAN(Thailand). They’ve been gaining attention for their internationally targeted performances and unique musical identity. Their debut single, “KOCKED ON”, charted on the K-POP rankings on iTunes in both the U.S. and the U.K., showcasing their global potential. They’ve also received particularly enthusiastic responses in Indonesia and Thailand. During the voting period, VVUP consistently ranked among the top contenders, cementing their reputation as a “rising star.”
As the winner of the Rising Star category, VVUP will not only perform on stage at the ceremony but will also be featured in an offline promotional campaign, with a congratulatory message displayed on the main storefront of the Photism Colored Store in Hongdae.
The Seoul Music Awards committee stated:
“The Rising Star category was created to give meaningful opportunities to talented young artists who are shaping the next generation of K-pop. We hope that VVUP’s performance on the main stage will showcase their potential to global audiences.”
For reference, the Seoul Music Awards will take place on June 21 at Inspire Arena in Incheon.
