The leader of Cube Entertainment’s new boy group, NOWZ, HYEONBIN, revealed his charm ahead of his comeback.
On July 6th, HYEONBIN appeared on MBC’s show “King of Masked Singer“ under the name “Baesisi” and performed the song “꿈속에 너 (feat. Jeon Sanggeun)” (Dreaming of You). He participated in a duet battle with “Pyorotong” during the first round. With his gentle yet emotionally charged voice and unique ballad sensibility, he won the applause of the audience.
In relation to this, the jury members, Yoo Hwe Seung and Lee Seung Hyup from N.Flying, speculated that “Baesisi” used delicate hand gestures while singing, creating a precise sound expression. They added, “He seems like a singer who sings cheerful songs.” Yoo Young Seok remarked, “Baesisi looks like a rookie idol. He seems to be dancing and is the lead vocalist, but he has a charming innocence about him. This stage will definitely be a memorable moment in his life.“
After performing “뭔가 잘못됐어“ (Something’s Wrong) by Kwon Jin Ah, HYEONBIN impressed the jury with his sensitivity and expression, making each of them smile before removing his mask and revealing his identity.
HYEONBIN, who debuted in April and has already won awards like “Rookie of the Year” and “Hot Trend Award”, shared:
“Even though my results so far have been good, I have even more ambition. We debuted under the name ‘Nowadays,’ but we changed our group name to ‘NOWZ’ to signify a new start.“
He also explained that before his debut, he was a cyclist and achieved top results in national competitions, adding, “When I became a high school student, I asked myself what I truly loved, and I chose the idol path. I think it was the best decision.”
After his appearance on “King of Masked Singer“, HYEONBIN expressed his gratitude through his agency Cube Entertainment: “It was an honor to participate in ‘King of Masked Singer’ through this wonderful opportunity, and I will cherish the good memories. Although the ‘Baesisi’ character ends here, I hope to participate again with another mask next time.”
Meanwhile, NOWZ will release its first mini-album “IGNITION” on July 9th across various music platforms.
