THE KINGDOM is making a surprise return with a special album.
The group THE KINGDOM (consisting of Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, and Jahan) announced its comeback at midnight KST on September 11 through a “coming soon” teaser image shared on its official social media channels. The group revealed that the special album will be released on September 23 at 6 PM KST.
This album is not part of their official discography, but rather a gift dedicated to their fans, the KINGMAKERS (the official fandom name), in appreciation for their continued support over the years. However, some bittersweet news was also shared: leader Dann, who was preparing for the album, received a notice from the Military Manpower Administration and has enlisted earlier than expected as an active-duty soldier. As a result, THE KINGDOM will continue as a five-member group starting with this comeback.
Known for its unique Eastern fantasy concepts and cinematic stage performances with every release, THE KINGDOM plans to reaffirm its reputation as “cinematic idols” through this special album. The teaser image, featuring the phrase “History Of Kingdom is Back,” suggests the continuation of their signature storytelling and intricate world-building.
Since its debut in 2021, THE KINGDOM has developed a narrative universe titled “History Of Kingdom”, structured in seven parts. Last year, they launched a new story arc called Chapter 2, continuing to set themselves apart both in Korea and internationally with their distinctive concept. They notably became the first 4th-generation K-pop group to top five different Amazon Music charts in the U.S. and landed in the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Top 10 for three consecutive entries. They were also featured in the Recording Academy’s (Grammy) Global Spin series, rapidly expanding their global fanbase.
THE KINGDOM’s special album will be released on September 23 at 6 PM KST on all major digital music platforms.
