JANG DONG WOO will release today, November 18 at 6 PM KST, on various online music platforms, his second mini-album “AWAKE”, marking a spectacular comeback on the music scene.
“AWAKE” is JANG DONG WOO’s first solo album since his first mini-album “BYE”, released in 2019 before his enlistment, after 6 years and 8 months. This album contains new music intended to awaken emotions dulled by the routine of daily life. Accustomed to dominating the stage with intense performances and powerful energy, JANG DONG WOO reveals a new side as a vocalist with “AWAKE”.
The title track “Sway (zzz)” illustrates emotional tremors resonating like an alarm, as well as the search for sincerity amid constant tension between two people. Over a beat reminiscent of the repetitive sound of an alarm clock, the track delicately captures the emotions of a moment where desire and comfort, encapsulated in the word love, intersect.
The album also includes the intro “SLEEPING AWAKE”, representing a dream; “Tik tak toe (checkmate)”, expressing the moment when the balance of power shifts in a world resembling a game of exchanges; “인생 (人生)”, tracing the journey of a person seeking their “self” amid anxiety and confusion; “Super birthday”, a song dedicated to fans; and the Chinese version of the title track “Sway”. A total of six tracks showcasing JANG DONG WOO’s musical range.
Notably, JANG DONG WOO participated in writing the lyrics for “Sway (zzz)”, “Tik tak toe (checkmate)”, and “Super birthday”, as well as in the writing, composition, and arrangement of “인생 (人生)”, confirming his deep musical identity and marked artistic evolution.
Composed of six tracks, “AWAKE” stands out with varied melodies and elegant rhythms. Beyond his role as the main rapper and dancer of INFINITE, JANG DONG WOO is ready to captivate listeners worldwide with enriched sensitivity and impeccable vocals.
JANG DONG WOO will also hold a solo fan meeting of the same name “AWAKE” on November 29 at the grand auditorium of the Unjeong Green campus of Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul. The release of this new album, just ahead of the event, is expected to be a particularly special gift for both attendees and fans who cannot join.
