Member of the group I-DLE, YUQI expressed her deep sorrow over the tragedy of a fire in Hong Kong.
YUQI posted on November 26 on her personal SNS the message “I hope everyone is safe and sound” accompanied by a praying emoji. Although she did not specify whom she was thinking of, it seems to refer to the fire that occurred in Hong Kong the same day.
According to news agencies Reuters, Hong Kong SUNDAY SODOM, and the South China Morning Post, on November 26 at approximately 2:52 p.m., a fire broke out in a 32-story residence named Wang Fuk Court located in the Tai Po district, northern Hong Kong.
The building has 8 blocks in total, housing around 2,000 apartments, for a total of approximately 4,800 residents. According to Hong Kong emergency authorities, at least 44 people died and 279 are still missing.
Following this tragedy, the event “2025 MAMA AWARDS”, scheduled for the 28th and 29th at Kai Tak Arena in Hong Kong, is now at risk. Indeed, the venue is only 20 km from the affected area, prompting organizers to carefully consider the situation.
On November 27, a MAMA official told Maeil Kyungje Star Today that they were “in discussions” to decide whether or not to proceed with the event.
