HOSHI X WOOZI (SEVENTEEN) ‘BEAM’
A controversy has arisen after it was revealed that a military officer asked WOOZI, a member of SEVENTEEN, to recruit a singer to perform a wedding song for his personal ceremony while WOOZI was still a newly enlisted trainee.

According to a report by Seoul Shinmun on December 22, a warrant officer identified as “A,” assigned to an Army training center, allegedly asked WOOZI in September, shortly after his enlistment as a recruit, to introduce a singer who could perform a congratulatory song at his wedding. The relationship between WOOZI and Officer A was formed only after WOOZI entered the military.
At Officer A’s request, WOOZI introduced a well-known ballad singer, referred to as “B,” with whom he has a personal relationship. Singer B reportedly performed at Officer A’s wedding in October without receiving any payment.
The Army training center stated that there was no coercion involved at the time and that WOOZI agreed to the request voluntarily, out of goodwill. It also emphasized that no violations of the law or military regulations were found.
Despite this explanation, the controversy continues to grow. Many critics argue that it was inappropriate for a military officer to make a strictly personal request of a trainee. Given the rigid hierarchical structure of the military, it may have been difficult for a soldier in training to refuse a request from a superior.
According to the Army, WOOZI has since been selected as an assistant instructor and is currently serving in the same training unit as Officer A.
