Former BIGBANG member T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) has announced the upcoming release of a new solo album.

On January 1st, T.O.P shared a short video on his social media accompanied by the message: “A NEW ALBUM IS ON THE WAY. TOP SPOT – multiple perspectives [ANOTHER DIMENSION].” In the video, he is seen handwriting the album title on a blank sheet of paper. He also launched a new account titled “topspot_pictures.”
The year 2026 will mark BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary, the group he was once part of before his departure. After previously announcing his retirement, T.O.P recently made a notable return through season 2 of Netflix’s hit series Squid Game, drawing significant attention as he now signals a comeback as a solo singer. Fans around the world have already expressed their excitement in multiple languages following the announcement.
CHOI SEUNG HYUN (T.O.P) was sentenced in 2017 to ten months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence for marijuana use at his home in 2016. After several controversies, including tensions with fans and statements regarding his retirement, he resumed his activities in December 2024 with the release of “Squid Game 2″.
In the series, T.O.P portrays Thanos, a fallen rapper struggling with drug addiction, a role that sparked numerous memes and earned him renewed global popularity. He attended Netflix-related events in the United States and appeared alongside Martha Stewart in a promotional video highlighting Korean Netflix content.
Speaking about his return through Squid Game 2, T.O.P shared in an interview:
“I had considered leaving the project, but director Hwang Dong Hyuk restored my confidence. As an actor, I thought the best way to respond to that trust was to take responsibility and see the role through to the end.”
He also firmly ruled out any possibility of rejoining BIGBANG. “I’m not in contact with the members right now. I don’t know exactly how long it’s been, but I still feel too much guilt to reach out easily. I made the decision to leave the group a long time ago, and I’ve never changed my mind since,” he stated.
Meanwhile, G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, and DAESUNG, who continue BIGBANG’s activities, are set to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California this April, officially kicking off events related to the group’s 20th anniversary.
