LIA KIM, CHOI YOUNGJUN
Choreographers LIA KIM and CHOI YOUNGJUN simultaneously posted wedding photos, sparking unexpected marriage rumors, before clarifying the situation in a single day.
On the afternoon of January 3, both artists shared several photos on their social media accompanied by the date “2026. 1. 24”.
The photos show them wearing a wedding dress and a tuxedo, respectively, creating an elegant atmosphere as if they were actually getting married. The surprise post amazed CHOI YENA, who wrote “Really !!??”, while LIA KIM’s close colleague, choreographer HARIMU, reacted “Huh????”. Choreographer MINA MYUNG also commented “That’s surprising”.
Some speculated that the photos could be for an event due to the blank look in their eyes, but the opulence of the shots kept public attention.
On January 4, a day after the photo posts and marriage rumors, the two shared a video on social media to clarify the situation. In the video, referring to the wedding outfits, LIA KIM and CHOI YOUNGJUN stated: “Yes, we married dance!!!” and “We invite everyone who loves dance. Surprise to all!”, provoking another wave of laughter.
LIA KIM added: “You were really surprised, right? I think many were. I was too, after a long silent admiration and many steps, I finally married dance,” laughing. CHOI YOUNGJUN encouraged: “Congratulate us a lot, please,” contributing to the joyful atmosphere.
Regarding the choice of the wedding concept, they explained: “It was to celebrate the 2nd 2025 Choreo Awards with a surprise in the form of wedding photos.” They added: “Many choreographers and dancers are preparing beautiful performances, so come in large numbers to this meaningful event.”
They emphasized that there was no real marriage, clarifying: “We are very good friends. We hope no one misinterprets. However… it is true that the impression could be misleading,” triggering more laughter.
The 2025 Choreo Awards is a ceremony honoring choreographers’ contributions and encouraging the development of the dance industry. LIA KIM and CHOI YOUNGJUN will participate as main hosts. The event will be held on January 24, 2026, at YES24 LIVE HALL in Seoul.
