HYBE AMERICA partners with globally renowned creator ALAN CHIKIN CHOW and NETFLIX to unveil a series retracing the birth of a next-generation pop group, based on HYBE’s proprietary K-pop methodology.

On January 20 (local time), HYBE AMERICA announced that it had entered into a partnership with ALAN CHIKIN CHOW, the creator with the highest number of global views on YouTube Shorts, totaling over 60 billion views and followed by 130 million subscribers, as well as with NETFLIX, to co-produce a scripted series.
The new series will tell the story of idol trainees admitted to an arts academy, who form a mixed-gender group and experience various events. It will stand out for its solid storytelling, already proven through the YouTube series “ALAN’S UNIVERSE”. Produced by ALAN CHIKIN CHOW, “ALAN’S UNIVERSE” is a drama series centered on teenage love, friendship, and positive values. Broadcast on the namesake channel with approximately 100 million subscribers, it records more than one billion views per month. Participants in the new series will also debut an artistic career by releasing original songs as they appear throughout the program.
The core of the project lies in the integration of HYBE’s unique K-pop production system and expertise. By combining ALAN CHIKIN CHOW’s narrative power with HYBE’s K-pop methodology, the project is generating high expectations for the emergence of a new global phenomenon, following the success of the group KATSEYE. HYBE had indeed launched the international girl group KATSEYE through the audition project “THE DEBUT: DREAM ACADEMY”, whose creation process was revealed in the NETFLIX documentary series “POP STAR ACADEMY”.
This collaboration constitutes an expanded global project, following the international partnership signed last April between HYBE AMERICA and ALAN CHIKIN CHOW, to which NETFLIX has now joined.
Regarding this collaboration, ALAN CHIKIN CHOW stated:
“This is a groundbreaking project bringing together HYBE America and Netflix, major players in global entertainment culture, to launch a new pop group. We aim to offer fans around the world storytelling that delivers creative inspiration and entertainment.”
James Shin, President of the Film and TV Division at HYBE AMERICA, emphasized:
“This series will become a ‘cultural blueprint’ illustrating the process of creating a pop group. By collaborating with Alan, a pioneer of the creator ecosystem, we will produce an innovative work that expands audiences and redefines how fandoms are built.”
