It was revealed that the one-person agency founded by singer LEE HI had been operating without registration for over five years.

On January 27, DUOVER, LEE HI’s agency, told Star News:
“LEE HI signed an exclusive contract with our company and conducted her activities through it. In this context, we were not aware that a separate registration as an individual business for popular culture and arts planning was required. We have since completed the necessary training and finalized the registration process.”
The agency added: “This situation occurred due to the ignorance and negligence of both the company and the artist. We apologize for the concerns caused and will carefully check applicable laws and procedures in the future to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.”
Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that LEE HI’s one-person agency, 8O8 HI RECORDINGS, established in 2020, had been operating illegally without registration with the relevant authorities.
According to the report, LEE HI’s agency completed registration on January 21 with the Mapo District Office. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had set a “general compliance period” until the end of last year to legalize unregistered agencies in the industry. However, the registration was completed three weeks after this period ended.
Under the current Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, corporations or individual businesses with more than one employee conducting artist management or cultural planning activities without registration with local authorities can face up to two years of imprisonment or fines of up to 20 million won.
