LIGHTSUM (Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, Yujeong) appeared on the 4th episode of the Japanese OTT platform ABEMA’s original documentary Re:IDOL, released on August 30, opening up about their feelings and concerns ahead of their promotions in Japan.
During the episode, SANGAH shared her anxiety about launching new activities in a foreign country and sought advice: “I wanted to ask how you resolved your worries or anxiety about working in a foreign country during your early debut in Korea, and how best to reset your mindset.”
In response, Fujiwara Tomoki, who debuted as the first Japanese K-pop idol, advised them to trust and rely on Japanese member HINA while in Japan, just as the members had been a source of strength for HINA during their promotions in Korea.
YUJEONG also voiced a practical concern regarding their upcoming schedule in Japan: “To be honest, I don’t have very good stamina. Seeing Japanese idols perform stage after stage without stopping, I wondered, ‘How do they do that?‘” Fujiwara Tomoki encouraged her, saying that when performing on stage in front of fans, a newfound strength usually kicks in.
Along with these honest discussions, news of LIGHTSUM’s participation in a large-scale Japanese music festival was revealed. LIGHTSUM will take the stage at the “SBI MUSIC CIRCUS HOKKAIDO 2026,” set to take place on September 26 at the Daiwa House Premist Dome in Hokkaido, Japan.
This festival is a major music event featuring live performances by various artists spanning different genres and generations, centered around K-pop and J-pop. LIGHTSUM will officially kick off their promotions by meeting local fans through this major festival right after making their official debut in Japan.
Prior to the festival, LIGHTSUM will release its Japanese debut album “RE:IDOL” on September 23. The album will feature five track titles, including the title track “Doushite (どうして)” and “Pose! (Kawaii ver.),” an even cuter arrangement of their Korean digital single “POSE!.”
All eyes are on what LIGHTSUM, having shared both their sincere worries and excitement ahead of their debut in Japan,will showcase through their upcoming local activities.
