On July 6th, HALO returned and went on stage, ten months after their last comeback, for a showcase press, in honor of their third mini-album, “HERE I AM“.
The boys started the showcase with their song “겁 이 나 (Afraid)” composed by member Jaeyong, with the help of Inhaeng for the lyrics and rap. Along a soft melody on the piano, the song speaks about the fears caused by the regrets we get when we leave a childhood love, with the idea of never seeing this person again. Jaeyong will explain that this is an experience everyone has experienced at a given time and that this kind of love and separation will remain forever anchored in every person who has lived it. The song is in a medium tempo style and, with this one, HALO shows a new appearance, with strong vocal prowess.
Then they continued with their title song, of the same name as the album, “여기 여기” in Korean. The boys later explained that they wanted, this time, to show a more sexy and confident image than their previous comebacks. The melody, with a pop and urban rhythm, gives the choreography more charm and the boys say, to the person they love, that they are here and that they will stay by her side, no matter where she will be.
During the question / answer period with the media, the boys explained that, for this comeback, they preferred to focus on the choreography, ignoring their cute side, for a more masculine and pop concept. They also expressed their wish to produce their own music, hence “겁 이 나 (Afraid)“, which Jaeyong hopes to be able to perform live in the future. Not to mention the song composed by Ooon, “여행 소년 (Travel boy )”, in which the young man speaks about the torments, the thoughts that we all get once in our life, the whole being part of the journey that is our life. The melody of the song can make us imagine a trip with friends, where we spend good times, without weight on our shoulders.
Ooon: « The theme of the song is rather sad, but the song in itself stays positive ; I still wanted to bring good vibes to people and try to help them, because we are all the same. »
Moreover, given that there were a lot of rumors about the group participating in the show “Produce 101 season 2“, the boys explained that, by seeing the articles on the matter, they were equally as surprised, absolutely not aware of it, and that of course, these rumors were unfounded. Dino and Jaeyong, however, mentioned Sungwoon (HOTSHOT), one of the 11 finalists who will soon be debuting as Wanna One:
Dino: « I am rather close to Sungwoon of WANNA ONE. When we watched him on the show “Produce 101 Season 2”, working so hard, I learned a lot. I hope HALO will gain in recognition one day ; We will do our best. »
Jaeyong: « We were really motivated by seeing Sungwoon do his best in the show, and it has helped us to work harder too. »
Halo ended the showcase by speaking about their desire to paricipate in the show « 아는 형님 » (Knowing Bros), and members Ooon and Dino also said they wanted to try acting, at least once. Lastly, Jaeyong and Ooon talked about their will to hold a free concert or go busking. We hope to see the boys realize these wishes really soon!
