WONDER GILRS: Good bye, YUBIN and HYELIM leave JYP.

YUBIN and HYELIM, both former members of “WONDER GIRLS“, saw their contract terminate with their agency JYP Entertainment.

JYP Entertainment said today that the exclusive contracts with YUBIN and HYELIM have expired since January 25th and that it has had extensive discussions in recent months to reach the decision not to re-sign after agreements mutual.

YUBIN and HYELIM joined WONDER GILRS in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and formed links with JYP Entertainment. YUBIN extended her contract twice in 2014 and 2017 and has worked with JYP Entertainment for 13 years. HYELIM also renewed her contract with JYP Entertainment in 2017 and worked in various fields, notably music and MCs.

With YUBIN and HYERIM leaving JYP Entertainment, none of the members of WONDER GIRLS is no longer within the agency which gave birth to the group.

Created by singer-producer Park Jin-young, head of JYP Entertainment,  WONDER GIRLS debuted in February 2007 with the single “Irony“, while becoming the lead of second-generation girl groups.

Fans applauded the 3 17 year old girls, born in 1992, HYUNA, SUNMI and SOHEE who was in high school when they made their debut. Exceptional thing at that time.

The group established itself as a “national group of girls” with its first full album “TELL ME” released in September of its debut, as well as “SO HOT” and “NOBODY“, which are “Hook song”. In other words, it is the origin of “poisoned melodies (which one cannot forget)”.

WONDER GIRLS have suffered as many crises as its growing popularity. In particular, the members were frequently replaced. HYUNA, a former “4MINUTE” and now soloist, left the group before the release of its first full album. Later, YUBIN joined the group.

In 2010, SUNMI left the group for academic and other reasons, and is joined by HYERIM. The leader SUNYE resigned in 2015 after writing the record for the “First marriage of an active idol” in 2013. At the same time, SOHEE left the group, saying that she would focus on her acting career. It was then reorganized into a group of four members when SUNMI returned after five years of absence.

After the recomposition, with SUNMI, various experiences such as the change of form of the group and others, could not make it regain its popularity of the past. Ten years after its beginnings, the group formalized the dismantling on January 26th, 2017.

However, there is no doubt that WONDER GIRLS is a group that has enabled kpop to expand its presence in the world. In particular, the WONDER GIRLS have entered the United States. They posted their presence in the country in 2009 and ranked 76th on the Singboard charts of the Billboard “Hot 100” for the first time among Korean singers of the same year.
