JENNIE from BLACKPINK set another record as a Korean solo artist.

According to YG Entertainment on July 28th, JENNIE‘s solo song “Solo“, released in November 2018, surpassed 500 million views on YouTube at 4:20 am that same day.
This is the result of BLACKPINK‘s global status being confirmed once again, as it’s rare for a music video for a solo artist, and not a group, to record half a billion views.
JENNIE, who was the first member of BLACKPINK‘s solo project, swept the top spots on the nation’s major music charts in real-time, daily and weekly when “Solo” was released.
Its global impact was also huge. “Solo” topped iTunes in 40 countries, becoming the first Korean solo artist to top the global iTunes song chart and top 10 iTunes in the United States.
Amidst that momentum, the music video for “Solo” surpassed 100 million views in 23 days after its release, setting the shortest record for a Korean solo artist. Since then, it has consistently surpassed 200 million views in 90 days, 300 million views in 182 days, and 400 million views in 13 months.
