The first online concert of PENTAGON just ended.
When the Covid-19 crisis is still not over, South Korea did adapt to the situation, offering online concerts available on live only. PENTAGON also had to adapt and this is how, today, the members did perform their first online concert, live-translated in English, Chinese and Japanese by a team of translaters. The concert, that was originally scheduled on November 29th, was reported to this day because of Covid-19.
In a particular atmosphere due to the snow fall during the night, the members started by writing few messages in the public chat before the concert starts.
CHAPTER I : WE L:VE IN THIS MOMENT
The concert was divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter, “We live in this moment“, represents PENTAGON living at present time.
After a video introduction, the members started, for the first time on live, with their song “Basquiat“, firstly introduced during the competition show “Road to Kingdom“. In dark and leather clothes, the members immediatly showed up their manly attitude with this rough choregraphy.
Followed by the songs “Gorilla“, which was their very first song, released on October 10th, 2016, and “Can you feel it“, it’s after their third song that the members finally introduced themselves, in group first and then individually, including greetings in foreign languages such as English, Japanese, Chinese, French and some more. Also, a big surprise for the fans was when they learned that the member JO JINHO, currently in the middle of his military service, was also behind a screen to watch the concert live, leaving, during the performances, a lot of comments on the public chat. Before going back to singing, each members said how sad they felt about not being able to meet the fans in person and also that they all hope to be able to do so as soon as possible.
When a lot of songs were awaited by the fans, the members granted one of UNIVERSE’s (PENTAGON fandom name) wish by dancing on the very expected song “The black hall“, a choregraphy they never performed live before.
CHAPTER II : WE L:IVE IN COLOURS
The 2nd chapter of the concert represents the colours each members possesses.
With members singing duets, they showed up different styles but, more than anything, they introduced some new songs to the fans.
Starting with a rockie song entitled “Wth” sang by SHINWON & HUI, the members YUTO & WOOSEOK performed a medley of 3 songs being “Toxic” (YUTO solo), “Always difficult, always beautiful” (WOOSEOK solo) & “Repeat” (YUTO & WOOSEOK).
HONGSEOK & YANAN sang a cover of the song “I will go to you like the first snow“, originally from AILEE. Finally, KINO & YEOONE made a very sensual cover of the song “Move” by TAEMIN, that ended the second chapter.
CHAPTER III : WE L:VE YOUNG
The 3rd chapter of this concert was about showing the natural energetic side of the members, in more casual clothes.
With a staging in school-type that made fans think of their song “Naughty boy“, this interlude was kind of like a korean entertainment show. Sit on a school bench, the members printed a real-sized picture of JINHO they put on a chair. In the scene, YEOONE, as the teacher, was introducing KINO who’s a new student in a highschool who had to choose a club among a rock club (SHINWON & HUI), a drama club for handsome boys (HONGSEOK & YANAN) and a hip-hop club (WOOSEOK & YUTO).
This chapter contained joyful songs such as “Happiness“, “Naughty boy” or even “Shine“, songs which represents indeed the childish and energetic personality of the band.
CHAPTER IV : WE L:VE ON STAGE
This last chapter represents the emotions and honesty of the band on stage. They arrived with pure white costumes, reflecting their sincerity.
After a video interview where the members were expressing their feelings and emotions on stage and facing the fans, the “last” chapter contained songs such as “You like” or “Shalala“.
(Unexpected) CHAPTER V : WE L:IVE IN UNIVERSE
While the members made the fans believe that the concert was ending the the yet very famous song “Daisy“, a last new chapter suddenly appeared. The members came back to sing their song “Nostalgia” while dancing on the choregraphy made by KINO for the fans.
At the first chorus of the song, while the members were dancing with the lightstick, they got a surprise by the staff : the huge background screen was suddenly full of videos of UNIVERSE, dancing on the choregraphy with their own lightstick. Very touched, the singers announced that the script for that scene did not mention the participation of the fans in those videos. During the song, that they had hard time to finish due to their emotions, the fans’ fanchant was also added to the song.
Containing only one other song full of emotions, the members introduced the last song composed by KINO, entitled “Eternal flame“, that expresses the love of the members for the fans.
It was then a big surprise when JO JINHO’s voice suddenly appeared during the song. Later, after the concert, the singer announced on U CUBE that the song was writen only 2 days before he enlist and it was a song that KINO really wanted to record with JINHO’s voice. During this performance, he wrote “UNIVERSE I love you” right at the moment when his voice showed up.
Finally (and sadly), the members did, for real this time, say goodbye to the fans, until next time.
