AIVAN is 29 years old today and we want to celebrate his birthday with this article to let you know more about him.
AIVAN, whose real name is LEE YO HAN, is a singer-composer under the company Evermore Music. He was born in South Korea on December 17th, 1991. When he was 5, he moved to Montreal, Quebec with his parents and his elder sister. He spent most of his childhood in Canada, but he also traveled a lot with his family, living in different countries such as the UK and the Philippines. He describes himself as a very cultured kid and thanks to his cosmopolite background, he can speak three languages: Korean, English, and French.
As he grew up surrounded by music, his dream to become a singer came to him naturally. He auditioned and sent demos to several agencies and finally received a call from one of them. In December 2011, he came back to South Korea to fulfill his dream. Therefore he became a trainee, did a lot of busking and performed in bars.
In 2012, long before his debut, he was credited in BLOCK B‘s album « BLOCKBUSTER » as a composer for the song « Dreams Come True ».
2018: AIVAN makes his debut
In 2017, AIVAN released a Japanese single album named « Can’t Control », but he made officially his debut on July 5th, 2018 with the song « Tell The World ». The story is about two people who had fallen in love and wanted to share their feelings with the rest of the world. Thanks to its jazzy tunes, the melody delivers the message perfectly, bringing a soft and romantic atmosphere.
AIVAN considers himself not only as a musician but also as a storyteller. He loves to share deep emotions and tell stories through the music that he writes and composes himself. With this approach, he released his first mini-album in August 2018, entitled « CURIOSITY ». He was involved in the writing process as well as the musical arrangements. AIVAN was one of the contestants of the show « Problematic Men » and he won. It’s a television program on TvN where the cast has to guess the identity of the guests. Those guests have to solve riddles during the show and the winner can become an intern for « Problematic Men ».
In 2018, AIVAN also entered the Mensa Society, a global organization with only one condition of admission, having an IQ higher than 98% of the population. AIVAN passed the entrance exam with an IQ of 156 and he has been called « the man with a sexy brain » ever since.
2019: AIVAN comes back with « Knotted Wings »
In July, the k-rock band BURSTERS, from the same company, were touring in the UK and AIVAN joined them as a special guest.
On October 23rd, AIVAN made a comeback with « Knotted Wings », a song with an energetic melody inspired by rock and pop.
In parallel with his music career, AIVAN studied communication and journalism at the prestigious Yonsei University in Seoul. He graduated in 2019 with a Master’s degree.
2020: AIVAN’s projects
A newcomer entered AIVAN‘s life: a puppy named Monet after the French painter. AIVAN loves dogs and always wanted to have one. Now he has Monet and the fans love him.
In March 2020, AIVAN became a special guest in the radio show « Hotbeat » on Arirang Radio. Every Wednesday, he hosts the segment « Yes, No, Maybe » with HOWON, the DJ who is also the singer of the k-rock group W24. Together they form a hilarious duo pacifically debating over a specific topic each week. They vote for one opinion between yes, no, or maybe, and the listeners do the same choosing, therefore, the winner while the loser has to do the punishments sent by the listeners, such as imitating an animal, acting cute, doing push-ups… The punishments that can’t be aired during the radio broadcast are shared on « Hotbeat »’s Instagram account.

On March 13th, he released the song « Pointless » with its sexy vibes, echoing the lyrics describing the relationship between two people who were more than just friends, but who could not be called romantic lovers either.
Two months later, AIVAN had another comeback named « Spring Spell », a mood-lifting song with an acoustic vibe and a pop tune, ideal for the spring season.
On July 22nd, 2020, AIVAN started his global cover project named Aivan Cover Airline by publishing a cover of « Sana » by the Filipino artist I BELONG TO THE ZOO on his Youtube channel. He instantaneously won the fans’ hearts with the quality of his cover and his ability to pronounce Tagalog, a Filipino dialect.
He also covered songs in Bahasa from Indonesia, in Vietnamese, in Thai, and lately in Hindi with « Lagdi Lahore Di » by GURU RANDHAWA and TULSI KUMAR, from the Bollywood movie « Street Dancer 3D ».
On October 16th, AIVAN gave his fandom an official name. His fans are now known as NAVIA. This name was a suggestion from the fans themselves: the singer and his company chose it from a list of various propositions. NAVIA represents the other half of AIVAN, the part that makes him complete.
AIVAN is curious and passionate. He expresses his creativity through different music styles and he likes to use his personal experience to write and compose his own music. He loves to watch movies and sometimes, he also gets his inspiration from them. AIVAN knows how to use words not only in his music but also to make people laugh.
