WISH YOU: The success of this new Boys love drama

Korea’s first new BL drama “WISH YOU: Your melody in my heart” (written, directed by Sung Joon, co-produced by Moving Pictures Company and Emotion Studio) ended with a bang.

“WISH YOU” is a web drama, based on the story of two boys (Boys Love: BL), on music and romance, which is broadcast simultaneously in over 200 countries around the world, showing the aspect new Hallyu content by adding Korean-style romantic comedy codes and a soundtrack made by actors who have become idols.

On January 15th, Netflix and other global platforms (Rakuten Viki, Rakuten TV from Japan, Line TV from Taiwan, etc.) will deliver movie versions to the world.

In particular, the director’s film version will be released as an uncut version with an additional 100 minutes of airing, which is 20 minutes more than the previously aired web drama.

An official from the production company Moving Pictures Company and Emotion Studio said: “With this work in 2020, we have launched the first challenge that no one has tried for the new growth of the new Hallyu BL boom, including the next start in January 2021, and we will do our best to rekindle the culture of K-BL.”

This last statement sends us back to 2021 pending further dramas of this type.
