MINGI : ATEEZ’s rapper celebrates his birthday

On August 9, we are celebrating SONG MINGI‘s birthday, the rapper and lyricist of ATEEZ.

MINGI is known as a singer, rapper, dancer, composer, lyricist from ATEEZ. He is a smiling person who is hard-working, but he has many fears which makes him look cute. He wanted to be an artist like Jay Park who is able to create the music he wants to. He is really close to YUNHO since they were both in “Joy Dance and Plug In” Music Academy in Incheon but they were both in a different location. It is at this time that MINGI developed great dancing abilities.

In October 2017, trainees from KQ participated in a reality show entitled “MIXNINE”. MINGI belonged to the four trainees which passed the audition to the show. He was 23rd on the show’s showcase before being eliminated.

Before being a member of ATEEZ, he was a part of the KQ Fellaz which is a project created by company KQ Entertainment to promote the trainees. The eight trainees from the company appeared in several clips to show the end of their trainee days and above all their months spent in Los Angeles in 2018. They were able to take dance classes in the famous “Millennium Dance Complex” and they all improved quickly.

On October, 24, 2018, the trainees became members of ATEEZ and released a first mini-album as a serie of albums based on the theme “TREASURE”. After promoting with “Pirate King” and then “Say My name”, the group performed several times a side-track entitled “HALA HALA” which was a great success. Then, they released title-song “WAVE” which attracted people’s attention on MINGI since the catchy part of that song was sang by him. It was also with this song that ATEEZ won its first victory on a music show.

In 2019, ATEEZ sold-out its European and American tour’s tickets wich is unique for a rookie group. MINGI was also quickly a hot topic during the 2019 MAMA because he danced like crazy with an amazing stage presence and revealed his great body during break dance from the song “WONDERLAND”.

During the group’s short break in early 2020, MINGI and the other members of ATEEZ were still able to stay close to the fans thanks to videos, covers, awards and reality shows. In July 2020, ATEEZ members made a comeback starting a new serie of comebacks on the theme “FEVER”. On July 29, 2020, they released a new mini-album and promoted with title-song “Inception” which made them win a new trophy on a music show.

MINGI worked a lot in order to create great lyrics for ATEEZ‘ songs and he was able to deliver the messages and ideas he wanted to. Him and HONGJOONG are often credited for ATEEZ‘ songs since they both create a lot of lyrics. MINGI is a young man known for having a great dancing style, for his quick rap parts and his stage presence. When he is on stage, MINGI can appear as a whole new person since he is really cute and smiles a lot on a daily basis. However, MINGI could not participate in ATEEZ activities for more than six months because of health issues. The young man is back and now starts to appear more and more during the group’s activities, re-creating ATEEZ as a whole.
