President Moon has officially appointed the members of BTS as the President’s special envoys for public diplomacy.

It was in July that President Moon Jae-In publicly announced that BTS will be the special envoy to represent future generations and culture. As part of this political mission, BTS members will attend major international conferences and assemblies to deliver messages of comfort and hope to young people around the world.
During their mission, they will also be required to carry out various activities which will aim to promote international cooperation in order to resolve international problems such as the environment, poverty, inequalities as well as respect for diversity. .
During the announcement, BTS said, “We have grown up with the youth of today. We have indirectly or directly witnessed and touched by the impact of certain social facts, such as global issues and the great economic crisis. It’s not much, but if there’s anything we can do, whether it’s being special envoy or attending a general assembly, then we’ll do it.“

The official support ceremony took place today, at the Blue House, with the presence of President Moon Jae-In, the First Lady of Korea as well as RM, JIN, SUGA, J-HOPE, JIMIN, V and JUNGKOOK , members of the group BTS.
On this occasion each member of BTS was individually and personally appointed by the President who presented each of them with a diplomatic passport, a certificate of appointment as special envoy and a fountain pen. They then marked the event by taking official photos with the President, individually and in groups.
During his speech, President Moon thanked BTS for exporting and raising the stature of Kpop and Korean culture internationally which has “greatly enhanced the dignity of the Republic of Korea” according to the President. from the country.
Kim Jung-Sook, the First Lady of South Korea also spoke, adding that thanks to BTS and their music, many foreigners are learning the Korean language in order to understand the lyrics of the songs of the group, which greatly spreads Korean in the world.
BTS will begin its special envoy mission by traveling alongside President Moon to the 76th United Nations General Assembly on September 20 in New York City. For this official event, the group will hold a speech to the assembly and a video of a performance will also be shown during their presentation.
Recently, in a public statement, Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House) said that “BTS having delivered messages of comfort and hope around the world, its presence at the United Nations General Assembly should be an opportunity. to develop communication with future generations and to attract their sympathy on major international issues”.
