VERIVERY expressed their feelings about returning with a unique new concept of “sexy youth.”
VERIVERY has received favorable reviews since releasing their new digital single “VERIVERY SERIES O [ROUND 0: WHO]” on online music sites on March 23. In particular, he caught the eye of fans by complementing VERIVERY’s youth, expressing delicate beauty and dreamy charm for anxious and gloomy eyes.
Moreover, VERIVERY not only successfully returned from the US tour last year and showed further growth, but also showed an expansion of their worldview through this album, which is receiving enthusiastic responses.
Here are some questions and answers in which VERIVERY participated:
1. After successfully completing your US tour at the end of last year, you will be releasing a new song in Korea for the first time. I’m sure your determination is different, but I’m curious what you think about making a comeback after a long time away?
– Last year’s US tour was a memorable moment for all the members for too long. However, during the US tour, we wondered how great it would be to meet domestic fans. It’s been a long time since “Trigger” was released in August of last year, and we’re very excited and looking forward as we believe we’ll be able to show you just how much we’ve got.
2. How do you think VERIVERY has grown and developed since the US tour? And what do you regret the most?
– As this was our first US tour, we felt sorry for all the performances and that we could have done better. After the performance, it was very difficult to move to the next performance venue or adapt to an unfamiliar environment, but we believe we learned to handle it competently and flexibly in all situations. There were a lot of little mistakes because there were a lot of early performances, but the members were able to get better and better by remembering mistakes and correcting them right away. We feel like we’ve grown a lot.
3. How did you feel when your American tour was decided? You may have been happy to meet foreign fans, or worried, tell us your feelings.
– To be honest, we thought the schedule was so tight that all the members were sensitive and anxious, but we think we tried to focus as much as possible on performance while taking care of each other. In particular, we were proud and happy to be able to play in the United States for the first time in a long time.
4. What is the most memorable episode of your American tour? Tell us about your impressive performances, like when you were impressed by the cheers of fans around the world and how you felt on a foreign stage.
– First of all, we were moved to see the fans lining up around the concert hall. I didn’t know there would be so many fans waiting for us. And even before the performance started, I was very moved and speechless to see fans singing our songs in Korean.
5. I heard that you studied English very hard to communicate easily with international fans before going to the United States. In fact, foreign media praised VERIVERY’s English conversation skills, so please tell me how you studied it.
– A lot of K-pop fans understood Korean and worked with us, but while we were touring the United States, we thought we should be able to speak the local language. So we memorized a lot of words and took English lessons. DONGHEON asked us to translate the script into English, memorized all parts, and tried to communicate with fans. We were so proud that the fans liked it.
6. What was it like to travel across the United States through a “bus tour” which is somewhat unheard of in Korea? It might have been uncomfortable because it was a small space, but did it create even stronger bonds of friendship between the members?
– First of all, the concept of a bus tour itself was new to us, so it was very interesting and enjoyable. Rather than working, we felt like we were traveling by bus with the members. Even though it was small, it was nice to fit into the given situation and create lots of fun memories.
7. In the US, the country paid attention to VERIVERY’s explosive energy and praised it as “impeccably perfect”, but what kind of performance was the US tour that the members themselves rated?
– Thank you very much for the rave reviews from the international media on our US tour. We trained very hard to show the best performance and not be nervous, but we think the fans understood how we felt. Although there were small mistakes because it was an unfamiliar environment, we became eager to do better next time.
8. This album is a prequel to SERIES “O” that VERIVERY has shown so far. What kind of concept and charm do you want to show?
– We hope that many people will listen to this album because it will help them better understand the musical universe of VERIVERY. As VERIVERY challenged the concept of “sexy” for the first time since its debut, you will be able to see a more mature and strong appearance.
9. The concept this time is “sexy youth”, what does VERIVERY think youth is? Have you ever experienced deep anxieties or imperfections in your adult life?
– We believe that youth is a time of great joy and happiness, but it is also a time of great worry and pain. Isn’t it time to worry about your career and think deeply about your inner pain? Somehow, the pain that the members face in the title track’s music video seems to be the worries and imperfections that all young people go through.
10. You recently showed off your strong and charismatic side, and this is the first time you’ve done a “sexy” promotion. Was there any difficulty expressing that sex appeal?
– Since the “sexy youth” of VERIVERY is dreamy and restrained sexy rather than bold or unconventional, we thought a lot about how to convey our own atmosphere. So we practiced a lot to express more with our eyes and facial expressions.
11. VERIVERY = perfectly synchronized dance. What is the highlight of the choreography? Please tell me what fans should focus on.
– This time we plan to focus on groovy beats rather than powerful charisma. If you pay attention to VERIVERY’s more delicate gestures and movements, you can enjoy the performance even more.
12. Whenever VERIVERY come back, they always include their own songs in their albums, showing their musical growth. Can you tell me how the members are working on the song and how the album “잠깐, 봄” was included.
– Whenever we have time, the members get together in the studio and talk a lot about the musical work. In fact, we made a lot of songs in different genres and atmospheres, and since VERIVERY is coming back at the end of March, we wanted to convey a warm and comfortable feeling to the fans, so we included “잠깐, 봄“, which is shy and contains feelings childhood expenses.
13. Maknae KANGMIN became an adult this year. It’s an extra point in the responsibility that increases with a mindset that can change, but I wonder what has changed the most.
– Since I’m the youngest member of VERIVERY, there’s not much change, although I had a strong image of a cute young man, I think I’m under a bit more pressure to show an appearance now more manly and mature after becoming an adult. I plan to practice harder and exercise more in the future.
14. VERIVERY is always labeled as a “band that grows without limits”, but what efforts have you been making to develop and grow for about three years after your debut?
– We always try to practice so as not to make mistakes, one by one. And we talk a lot about stronger teamwork. Thanks to this, it seems that we are evaluated as a “group that grows without limits“. We will continue to be VERIVERY which continues to grow.
