NEWJEANS: A record position
Girl group NEWJEANS has won another “first girl group” title on the Korean Spotify chart.
NEWJEANS reached the top of Spotify’s daily top artist in Korea on August 16. NEWJEANS are the first K-pop girl group to reach the No. 1 spot on the chart.
As “Attention”, “Hype boy“, “Cookie” and “Hurt” from their debut album “NEWJEANS” occupied Spotify’s daily top-four rankings in Korea on August 15, NEWJEANS became the first group of girls to achieve these positions. The four songs also charted on August 16, and in particular, “Attention” and “Hype boy” stayed at No. 1 and No. 2 on the Korean Spotify Daily Top Songs chart for 16 consecutive days.
“Attention” and “Hype boy” are also rising on the global charts. “Attention” entered the Spotify Global Top Song Chart at #176 on August 11 and settled at #126 on the 16th. “Hype boy” ranked #183 on the chart on the 14th, followed by #145 the 16th.
“Attention” ranked 51st on the Billboard Global (non-US) chart released on August 16, 2022, up 123 notches from the previous week. Additionally, “Hype boy” entered the chart at number 64. “Attention” and “Hype boy” were also ranked 82nd and 116th, respectively, on the Billboard Global 200 charts for the first time on the same day.
