BABY MONSTER: Already reached the million mark

The number of subscribers to YG Entertainment‘s next-generation girl group “BABY MONSTER” official YouTube channel topped 1 million even before its official debut.

According to YG Entertainment on February 18, the number of subscribers to BABY MONSTER‘s official YouTube channel reached 1 million as of 12:18 a.m. today. It has been around 52 days since the channel opened on December 28 last year.

Starting with BABY MONSTER launch teaser on the 1st of last month, YG Entertainment is sequentially posting live videos, dance performance videos, and individual introduction videos of seven prospective members. The cumulative number of views of related content posted on YG Entertainment’s official channel and the BABY MONSTER channel easily exceeded 140 million views.

YG Entertainment said, “The number of YouTube subscribers is an objective indicator of the formation of a loyal fandom beyond mere curiosity or one-time viewing,” adding, “The number of subscribers exceeding one million is different because it’s a new girl group that hasn’t debuted yet.” In particular, he added, “this is not a new music video or an official album promotion, but a result achieved only by revealing content“.

BABY MONSTER is a new girl group released by YG Entertainment about seven years after “Blackpink,” which has become one of the leading K-pop girl groups, and is mostly comprised of teenage girls. It aims to target the global market with a multinational line-up of three Koreans (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), two Thais (Pharita, Chikita), and two Japanese (Ruka, Asa).
