YG Entertainment‘s new girl group BABYMONSTER has confirmed its seven-member debut.

YG Entertainment posted “BABYMONSTER – FIRST MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO” on its official blog at midnight on May 12. As the end result of the member announcement drew attention, General Producer Yang Hyun Suk personally introduced the first member.
The first main character was AHYEON. As an “all-around” member who doesn’t miss any of the important vocal, rapping or performance points, she has both the intensity and the ability to lead BABYMONSTER. For the second, RUKA, who claims an unparalleled presence as a rapper with the hip-hop identity of YG, was selected.
The third was CHIQUITA. She is the youngest of the seven potential members and has a short trailing period, but she has grown rapidly and shown endless possibilities. For the fourth, HARAM walked through the final gate of debut. In addition to her solid live performance without wavering, she was highly praised for her ability to reinterpret songs with her own musical color.
The last member was PHARITA. This is because she is a member who not only has strong skills but also masters various languages such as Thai, English which are her mother tongues. It is the result of the combination of individual abilities, the synergy that emerges when they are brought together in a group, and global abilities.
At a time when all five members seemed to be decided as the final members, general producer Yang Hyun Suk released a different card. RORA, who was to join another girl group from YG Entertainment, and ASA, who was planning to participate in a new project to be introduced in Japan, have confirmed their debut as a member of BABYMONSTER.
General producer Yang Hyun Suk has been agonizing over the past two weeks since the end of “Last Evaluation,” watching the reactions of many fans applauding the debut of seven members. “YG Family” is not just a collection of singers. “I think YG fans are the real ‘YG family,'” he said, explaining the background to the seven members’ debut, saying, “ASA and RORA are the members you selected.”
A plan for BABYMONSTER’s activities was also unveiled. The group will be accelerating its debut this fall and returning its love through group and unit activities. General Manager Yang Hyun Suk said, “I will step on the gas pedal first and do my best to support the members. I sincerely thank the fans for watching. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere congratulations to the members who were nervous.”
Subscribers to BABYMONSTER’s official YouTube channel surpassed 2 million in 129 days, the shortest record for K-pop girl groups, and the cumulative number of teaser content is over 400 million views. Billboard in the United States attracted domestic and foreign attention even before its debut, selecting them as “K-pop artists of note” and predicting that “it will create a new wave in the K-pop genre”.
