On May 12, Dallala Network, the operator of global star development platform Twinkle, said, “In the second half of this year, MBCM will introduce a ‘FAN PICK’ audition program to encourage new male idols world.“
“FAN PICK”, which means fans choose their own stars, is a new idol creation project that allows fans and contestants to directly select their first members through direct interaction, unlike fan participation in existing idol auditions which was close to a simple popularity vote.
“FAN PICK,” which will create a dream idol group that fans imagined through direct voting and create a new boy group that has never existed before, raising K-POP fans’ expectations even before it will be broadcast in a new format different from the existing idol audition program.
“FAN PICK,” which released a teaser video via its official YouTube channel in February, came under delicate scrutiny starting in late March when it shut down recruiting candidates. Attention is focused on the birth of a new global boy group as budding idols from around the world apply for auditions beyond Korea, China and Japan, in keeping with the title of “Global Male Idol Audition”.
