The mother of the late actress KIM SAERON is among several suspects referred to prosecution in connection with defamation and coercion complaints filed by actor KIM SOO HYUN.

“Following the indictment and detention of Kim Se-ui, head of the YouTube channel HoverLab, several accomplices involved in spreading false information have also been referred (without detention) to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, as the police have established grounds for criminal prosecution,” GOLD MEDALIST said in a statement this Monday.
Kim Se-ui was indicted for falsely claiming on social media that KIM SOO HYUN dated KIM SAERON when she was a minor.
“Among the individuals referred to the prosecution are the mother of the late KIM SAERON as well as an individual who posed as her aunt. They face charges including defamation through the dissemination of false information under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, distribution of illegally filmed content under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, and attempted coercion,” the agency specified.
The agency added that attorney Bu Jiseok, who represents the bereaved family, and videographer Kwon Young Chan were also referred to the prosecution.
“The police decided not to refer the late actress’s father to the prosecution,” the agency added.
Bu Jiseok faces charges of defamation under the Criminal Act and defamation through the dissemination of false information under the Information and Communications Network Act, while Kwon Young Chan faces charges of distributing illegally filmed content under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, according to the agency.
KIM SOO HYUN had largely suspended his activities following the emergence of allegations that he dated the late KIM SAERON when she was a minor.
He resumed activities in August after police concluded that accusations against him of violating child protection laws and lying to prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence.
He attended a music awards ceremony in Korea in September, marking his first public appearance in the country in about 18 months, and held a fan meeting in the Philippines this month.
