Diverse reactions are following after seeing WHEEIN, a member of the girl group MAMAMOO, burst into tears while recalling the group’s golden age.
A short while ago, WHEEIN launched a live broadcast on the fan community platform Weverse, communicating with her fans in casual attire while doing a mukbang.
On that day, WHEEIN drew attention by stating: “I am very emotional during the tour. A lot of thoughts come to mind. These are things I didn’t think about in my early and mid-twenties,” adding: “I often think that I would like to go back to the time when MAMAMOO was in its full golden age.”
WHEEIN confided:
“At that time, it was so difficult that, to be honest, there were moments when I really hated it. A human being needs rest to feel the precious things that come from it, but when you are carried away by the whirlwind, you often miss out on what you gain without realizing it.”
She continued: “I had no respite, but looking back at it now, it was hard but also fun. I believe I miss that era when we were in full activity,” adding: “If I were asked to go back now, I wonder if I could do it to that extent. When I drink alone, I put on old MAMAMOO videos. I think that’s my way of being drunk. Watching them, I cry by myself,” then she shed tears.
Afterwards, WHEEIN recounted: “At the time, we had told Kim Shin Young: “I want to stop everything”, but big sister Shin Young had replied: “Even if you want to stop, the day will inevitably come when you will miss that day””, adding: “To be honest, I didn’t understand at the time. She said that I would miss it for sure. I really realize those words a lot today.”
WHEEIN made her debut in 2014 as a member of MAMAMOO and received much love. Later, WHEEIN did not renew her contract after its expiration in 2021 and left the agency, and HWASA transferred to P NATION in 2023. MAMAMOO, which had devoted itself to solo activities since the end of promotions for “Illella” in 2022, returned as a full group after 4 years and is leading the world tour “MAMAMOO 2026 WORLD TOUR [4WARD] in KUALA LUMPUR”, and after Tokyo, they will conclude the tour in Taipei on November 28 and 29.
