“Spring day“, the representative hit song of the group BTS, marks the 7th anniversary of its release.

According to Big Hit Music, on February 13, “Spring day” broke the record for the longest chart in the 20-year history of Melon, Korea’s largest music site.
Since the song’s release on February 13, 2017, it has been ranked on the Melon daily chart for seven years without missing a single day. “Spring day” was played 969.3 million times on Melon alone as of 4 a.m. on the 13th and is expected to exceed 1 billion streams.
Music experts say that the warm message contained in “Spring day” is one of the reasons for this film’s long-term popularity. Launched in 2013, BTS aroused the sympathy of contemporary young people through the series “학교 3부작“, “화양연화”, and completed its growth story with its second full album “WINGS” in 2016, which had an impact global. The following year, the release of “WINGS: YOU NEVER WALK ALONE” was a consolation and hope for the sick youth of that time.
Particularly, the title song “Spring day” added authenticity with lyrics that contain RM and SUGA’s personal experiences.
“얼마나 기다려야/ 또 몇밤을 더 새워야/ 널 보게 될까/ 만나게 될까”
(“How long must I wait/How many more nights must I stay awake/to see you/to meet you?”)
“조금만 기다리면/ 며칠 밤만 더 새우면/ 만나러 갈게/ 데리러 갈게”
(“If you wait a little longer,/If you stay awake a few more nights,/I will find you/I will come for you.”)
The warm words that people say while looking forward to a spring day that will return after the cold winter season ends have comforted many people. Additionally, it maximizes the charm that cannot be heard even through lyrical melodies.
Since “Spring day“, BTS has become a group of all generations. “We and the audience share a contemporaneity. I think we need to evoke the stories that are within us and next to us right now,” RM said in an interview previously.
BTS’s wish that “I want to make a song that will last a long time among Koreans” has become a reality. It remains with us as a great resonance that is much more than just music.
