ZEROBASEONE
The second season of Mnet’s audition show “Boys Planet” is set to premiere next year in both Korean and Chinese versions, CJ ENM announced Tuesday.

“The show will be based on a multiverse concept, allowing for unlimited expansion,” said the show’s chief producer Kim Shin Young. Dubbed “Boys II Planet,” the show comes two years after the first season.
The nine finalists from the first season, Zhang Hao, Sung Hanbin, Seok Matthew, Ricky, Park Gunwook, Kim Taerae, Kim Gyuvin, Kim Jiwoong, and Han Yujin, debuted as ZEROBASEONE in 2023 and are on their first international tour, which kicked off on September 20 in Seoul.
“We chose China, with its massive population of 1.5 billion, as the first stop on this global journey,” said an official.
ZHANG HAO, the winner of the first season of “Boys Planet,” is from China. This may lead the producers to focus more heavily on the country and the talent that lies within it.
“We hope to discover many talented artists of various nationalities and see the two finalist groups, who come from the same universe but different programs, come together and create synergy.”
Applications for the auditions opened last Friday and will remain open until January 1 of next year. Male applicants born before January 1, 2012, regardless of their nationality, can apply for either the Korean or Chinese version. Participants who have already applied for the pre-audition project “Planet B” in August do not need to apply again.
Cable channel Mnet has aired many popular audition shows, and the temporary K-pop groups formed through these shows have achieved great commercial success. In particular, the four seasons of the “Produce” franchise, between 2016 and 2019, gave birth to girl groups I.O.I and IZ*ONE, and boy groups WANNA ONE and X1.
Expectations will rise for this new experience.
