Girl group FROMIS_9 announces a new beginning.
ASND released new profile photos of FROMIS_9, PARK JIWON, BAEK JI HEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG, and SONG HA YOUNG, along with a mood film, on its official social media channels on March 26.
The mood film and photos capture various objects and aspects of the FROMIS_9 members. The members’ feelings and their “I miss you” announcing their departure from ASND touched the FLOVERs.
In the profile photos they posted, FROMIS_9 revealed a deeper maturity. Posing elegantly in black outfits, they added a chic look to create a more unique atmosphere.
ASND’s official announcement under the name “FROMIS_9” particularly caught the attention of fans. Regarding the use of the group name “FROMIS_9,” ASND recently concluded successful consultations with Pledis Entertainment. This is the result of ASND’s passion and Pledis’s attention to the members’ future. As a result, PARK JIWON, BAEK JI HEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG, and SONG HA YOUNG were able to continue their activities under the group name “FROMIS_9,” to the applause of fans.
ASND stated, “Maintaining the name FROMIS_9 has laid the foundation for the musical development of PARK JIWON, BAEK JI HEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG, and SONG HA YOUNG,” adding, “We are preparing new projects and concerts to meet fans. We ask for your interest and affection for FROMIS_9’s journey.”
FROMIS_9 was a nine-member girl group formed during Mnet’s audition show “Idol School” in September 2017. Their official debut took place in January 2018.
However, following Jang Gyuri’s departure in July 2022, FROMIS_9 reorganized into an eight-member group and ended their exclusive contract with Hybe’s affiliated label Pledis Entertainment on December 31. However, PARK JIWON, BAEK JI HEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG, and SONG HA YOUNG reunited under the name FROMIS_9 and signed exclusive contracts with their new agency, ASND.
Since then, the members have expressed their desire to operate under the group name FROMIS_9. BAEK JI-HEON stated on a media platform on the 15th, “I’m upset that we’re not willing to protect our names.” She added, “We really want to negotiate normally, like everyone else,” adding, “I’ll try to find a solution, but I hope the Flovers will protect us.”
Therefore, fans who were worried that FROMIS_9 wouldn’t be able to use the group name were surprised, after a smooth consultation with their former agency, that the members will be able to operate under the name FROMIS_9.
