Seoul is getting greener thanks to the efforts of Melon, the number 1 music platform, and K-pop fans.

Melon, the music platform owned by Kakao Entertainment (co-CEOs: Kwon Ki Soo and Jang Yoon Joong), recently announced the creation of the 14th “I-DLE Forest No. 1″ and the 15th “Lee Chan Won Forest No. 1” in Seoul’s Nanji Hangang Park thanks to “Forest; Trimming,” an eco-friendly project that creates a forest in the name of enthusiastic artists.
“Forest; Trimming” is a project that allows any paying Melon member to create a forest in the name of an artist starting in June 2022. By selecting the name of your favorite artist on the “Forest; Trimming” page with your Melon payment slip, you will automatically receive a bonus of up to 2% of your monthly payment. After that, if a total of 20 million won is raised for the artist, the entire amount will be donated to the Seoul Environmental Union to create a forest in Seoul bearing their name.

This forest is the result of achieving this goal thanks to the enthusiastic support and participation of I-DLE’s “NEVERLAND” and LEE CHAN WON’S “CHAN’S” fandoms. In response, Melon, the Seoul Environmental Union, and Seoul Future Han River Headquarters established “I-DLE Forest No. 1” at Nanji Han River Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on May 19, and “LEE CHAN WON Forest No. 1” on May 23.
In the two artists’ “Forest No. 1” at Nanji Han River Park, 403 trees, including three Chinese fringe trees (aged 8 years) and 400 Spiraea Salicifolia trees (aged 3 to 4 years), were planted, transforming the space into a green space beloved by fans. I-DLE announced a new beginning by changing the group’s name from (G)I-dle to I-DLE to celebrate their 7th debut anniversary this year. The 8th mini album “WE ARE,” released on May 19, reflects the five members’ solidarity and new identities, marking the debut of their second installment.
LEE CHAN WON is a versatile artist beloved for his exceptional singing and acting talents. He once again proved his worth as a national star by successfully completing his “찬가(燦歌)” national tour, which kicked off in Seoul last June, before the end of the year.
Fans and residents visiting the lawn near the Nanji Information Center will be able to visit the “I-DLE No. 1” and “Lee Chan Won No. 1” forests, as well as the “BTS No. 1,” “SEVENTEEN No. 1 & No. 2,” “Lim Young Woong No. 1 & No. 2,” “EXO Forest,” “Tomorrow X Together No. 1 & No. 2,” and “NCT 1 & No. 2″ forests. These forests have significantly increased the number of trees in Ttukseom Hangang and Boramae Parks, and you can enjoy a soothing green space throughout the city.
You can also participate in the forest trimming by clicking the “Forest Trimming” menu in the shortcuts tab on the far right of the Melon app. Fans who support singers from various genres such as ballad, hip-hop, trot, and indie, as well as idols, work hard to exert their positive influence.
