Actress RYU JIWON, former member of the girl group GOOD DAY, revealed that she is battling leukemia.
On August 14, RYU JIWON wrote on her social media:
“It’s already been three months since I was hospitalized without knowing why and was suddenly diagnosed with leukemia. I successfully completed the first and second rounds of treatment and am now undergoing the third.”
In the photo she shared, RYU JIWON wears a hospital gown and mask, her head shaved, looking directly at the camera.
She explained:
“When I first learned about the illness, I didn’t want comfort or messages from anyone. I was in a deep despair, but thanks to the check-ins and concern from my family, friends, and loved ones, my heart has warmed.”
She continued:
“I was afraid to post a photo because my appearance felt strange, no hair and having gained a lot of weight. But today, I’m gathering my courage to share how I’ve been doing.”
She added:
“I still have a big step ahead—the hematopoietic stem cell transplant, but once it’s all over, I want to return healthier than before my illness. I wish everyone good health.”
