A documentary offers an unfiltered look behind the scenes of their debut album.
BigHit Music’s rookie boy group CORTIS has released a documentary capturing the unfiltered journey behind its debut album, showcasing the charm of its “Young Creator Crew.”
On August 29 at 8 PM KST, CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho) dropped the trailer for its documentary “What We Want” on HYBE Labels’ official YouTube channel. The film follows the production process of its debut album “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES”, which took more than a year to complete, from April last year through May this year.
The trailer opens with the members’ determination, “Our closest goal is debut,” “It’s not all fun and excitement. We really need to show what we can do”, alongside scenes of them practicing. The five members struggle to answer questions like, “How can we create lyrics and melodies that truly represent us?” in their quest to find “our own music.”
Though not always easy, the footage also shows lighthearted moments, like crawling under cars for filming or literally putting their heads together to brainstorm, highlighting their teenage energy. The trailer closes with the line, “I think we finally understand what it means to say this is our song,” raising curiosity for the full documentary.
Branded as a “Young Creator Crew”, CORTIS co-create its music and choreography videos. The documentary reveals in detail how the five members collaborate, showcasing not only their surprising production skills for their age but also the mistakes, trial-and-error, and strong bond that define them. Fans will also get a first listen of their follow-up track “FaSHioN” during the opening of the full release.
The documentary is made up of four episodes, all premiering simultaneously on September 1 at 8 PM KST via HYBE Labels’ official YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, CORTIS’s hard-worked debut album “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES” will officially be released on September 8 at 6 PM KST. That same day at 8 PM, the group will hold its first standalone event, “CORTIS The 1st EP [COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES] RELEASE PARTY”, at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium.
